The main modifications of the 690 Enduro R date from 2012. Mainly at the engine level: the 654 cm3 is replaced by the 690 cm3 of the Duke R. the power peaks at 67 horsepower. The silhouette was slightly revised, as were the suspensions and ergonomics. In 2014, the mono benefits from dual ignition and a Ride-by-Wire system. Also on the program, the chassis is taken care of, with a weight that drops below 140 kilos, a fork with separate damping circuits (left fork sleeve for the compression level, right for the rebound) which can be adjusted independently. ABS is installed as standard, version 9M + which can be deactivated. As an option, you can offer yourselves the offroad ABS, allowing the locking of the rear wheel while keeping the anti-lock at the front..
With its EXC range, the Austrian manufacturer has something to satisfy from the simplest amateur to the severe enduro pro. Very typical, exclusive machines, which range from the ‘warm in the garage’ box to that of ‘paths and crossings’ without going through the road box. It took Katoche to open up new horizons to its off-road range by combining its LC4 mono with crampons and a touch of asphalt envy. Alongside the 690 Duke and 690 SM / SMC, the big mono finds another field of exploration with the 690 Enduro. More efficient, livelier, nastier, this is the 690 Enduro R.
With its orange frame, its substantial saddle height of 930 mm (even more marked because the suspensions are 25 mm higher than on the standard Enduro), its sporty spirit perspiring from the trim to the headlight plate, the machine clearly plays in a more muscular category than the BMW G 650 GS and Yamaha 660 XT-R, the only survivors of the race of mainstream single-cylinder trails. Intended to be efficient on the road, the Enduro R is only really enjoyed when the tarmac is gone. Dirt, a little dust, gravel, broken paths bring him much more to smile. The big piston and its 67 cannons are not the type to stay calm, and allow both antlers on the departmental roads (allow, not do 😉 and fast pace when the track is wide. With a little over 140 kilos dry, this machine plays with everything in normal conditions. On the other hand, in pure enduro, it cannot compete with the EXC, much lighter (from 30 to 40 kilos). It will therefore require more effort and anticipation for crossing and more technical areas. Without falling into extreme use, the 690 Enduro R can handle everyday use while playing outside of office hours.
