Future model timetable revealed

Stefan Pierer bundles the brands KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas under the umbrella of the new Pierer Mobility AG. Pierer has prescribed full throttle for the entire group. We show which new models are planned.

F.Let’s start with the youngest member of the family, GasGas, in which the Austrians hold 60 percent and thus have the say with the Spaniards. So far, GasGas has focused on trial motorcycles, crossers and enduros. In the future, however, the Spaniards will also poach in new segments.

GasGas is taking to the streets

KTM

Entry into street motorcycles is planned with three machines. As with Husqvarna, the technology is provided by the KTM kit. According to product planning, the Street portfolio will include two GasGas 800 models, which will probably be based on the KTM 790 platform. One version appears as a classic naked bike, the other with a small frame-mounted headlight fairing and cases. The third model is also on a naked bike and probably uses the 250 Duke.

Husky with travel enduros and small two-cylinders

There is also movement in the offerings of the group subsidiary Husqvarna. In the MOTORRAD timetable there are no more recognizable traces of Svartpilen and Vitpilen 701. In the Enduro and the Supermoto, however, the 690 single seems to survive. In contrast, the new Supermoto / Enduro models Husqvarna 125/250/401 and 501. The latter should be based on the new 490 engine from KTM. In the travel sector, travel enduros are to come as 250/401 and 501. The 901 Norden followed later with the twin from the 890 KTM. Models 125/250/401 and 501 are planned for the naked bikes. There are also unnamed entry-level models in a retro look. E-mobility is not forgotten. A kind of electric mountain bike without pedals and two electric scooters are on the program. In the crosser area, two more powerful mini crossers are to follow for the youngsters, which will also be available under the KTM label.

KTM 490 family with street athletes

KTM

Continue with KTM. The completely new 490 family is moving in here. The small two-cylinder should come as an adventure, an enduro, a supermoto, a duke and – watch out – a sport bike for the road. The 890 also seems to be expanding to include new models from Adventure to civil Duke. No, an 890 sports motorcycle is not in sight. In terms of e-bikes, the Freeride E – the e-mountain bike without pedals – is available for driving license classes A1 and AM.

Unfortunately, the current product timetable does not include a timeline. The innovations are likely to be planned for the next two years. Of course, not all models are intended for all markets.

Conclusion

The Austrians step on the gas and cleverly use all facets of their modular system. It will be interesting to see whether the market will actually accept the differentiation.
