Market reports - First half of 2013: Kymco's market report - KYMCO occasions

Kymco has just completed the first half of 2013 with a decline of -9.5% and has a total of 1,531 registrations. The Deputy General Manager of the Taiwanese brand, Jean-Luc L’Hermine, gives his impressions to Site and its readers. Balance sheet.

Site: To what do you attribute the drop in the motorcycle market in France in the first half of 2013 ?
Jean-Luc L’Hermine (Commercial Director and Deputy Managing Director of Kymco Lux):
Little has been done on the two-wheeler market, it’s a whole. The infernal weather and not very conducive to two-wheelers, an unprecedented economic crisis from which French and European households are suffering more than ever, a heavy ambient gloom making it difficult to project, a government sometimes representing a brake on activity … All of this has contributed to a fall in the market … and the real question so far is whether the outcome is near, in the months to come. ?

"The real question so far is whether the outcome is near?"

MNC: For you, what is the highlight of this first half of the year? ?
J-L. L .:
The death of J.C.O at the beginning of the year … It was a shock for the profession and it must be admitted that he was and will remain an emblematic figure in the world of two-wheelers. So we can pay homage to him, as it should.

MNC: Regarding your activity, what is your assessment of your first six months of 2013? ?
J-L. L .:
In 50 cc, the results are quite satisfactory. On the other hand, in 125 cc, our posted drop (-9.8%) is moderate compared to the vertiginous drop in the market (-24%). Finally, our maxiscooter results are positive, a good progression with + 6.32%, where the market shows a decrease of -11.47%. Of course, from a global point of view, our results do not match our ambitions, but we remain focused on the next six months.

"Our results are not up to our ambitions"

MNC: In general, how does the second semester look? ?
J-L. L .:
We have a lot of events and projects in progress: Kenny Festival in September (big quad event of the year), Salon du deux-Roues in Paris in December, Salon de Bruxelles at the beginning of January 2014. And that’s without count network events and our communication projects for the last quarter.

MNC: What are your tools to face this difficult period ?
J-L. L .: We remain focused on our network and ensure that we provide them with the means to achieve our ambitions. We optimize our communication, and try to find promising and effective communication vectors. We work closely with the manufacturer to meet an ever more demanding market demand, in order to adapt to its recent developments..
