Market reports - Jacques Sannier: seriousness and communication have borne fruit -

With 367 registrations in 2010, Leonart posted an increase of 164% on the French motorcycle market. Jacques Sannier, distributor of the brand in France, establishes for Site the 2010 assessment of the Spanish brand and reveals its 2011 objectives.

Site: What do you think of the general evolution of the French motorcycle market in 2010? ?
Jacques Sannier, Leonart Motors distributor in France
: The motorcycle market is stagnant, it is cautious, customers need to be reassured about their purchase because you can find everything and anything in the 125 cc. But a selection is being made and only the most serious will remain.

MNC: What is your assessment of your year? ?
J. S.
: Seriousness and communication have borne fruit and we have made further progress this year with only three models. We have doubled the number of serious resellers who provide follow-up and personalization of our models: that’s great !

MNC: Immates are not everything … How would you qualify your balance sheet? ?
J. S.
: Sales increase considerably each year, but it is at the cost of vigilance on quality and a presence in the field to show that we exist, that we are always there, stronger each time, well supported by numerous points of sale whose reputation is well established and an efficient after-sales service. All of this comes at a cost, but customer satisfaction comes first.

MNC: What was the good surprise 2010
J. S.
: The welcome we received from the organizers of trade fairs and exhibitions, as well as from our customers who bring their motorcycles to our stands, are proud of it and become friends and our best ambassadors. It is a real pleasure to work in these conditions.

MNC: What was the worst ?
J. S.
: That anyone can use our experience, our notoriety and especially our articles in the press and our photos to market copies of our models to assemble oneself with impunity.

MNC: In your opinion, what was the highlight of 2010 in the world of two-wheelers? ?
J. S.
: The announcement of the compulsory piloting course to drive a 125cc, which worries everyone that it will lower sales. Not me, I find it reassuring and essential. I even offered it at certain shows for any purchase of a Leonart.

MNC: How is your network made up? Which establishments sell your vehicles in France ?
J. S.
: The network is made up of 85 established professional resellers, located on the street and well distributed so that everyone has one near their home. Customers 125 are often inexperienced and require advice and assistance. We do not accept the virtual, many of them are preparers of the famous American brand.

MNC: Will you be offering one or more new products in 2011? ?
J. S.
: We added a 350cc engine to our range this year and it was a success. For me, this is a consecration because we are reaching another clientele who are eager and proud to ride our motorcycles. We are currently working on another model which will be presented at the Mondial in Paris but still in the custom, it’s a passion !

"It is unacceptable to see anyone using our texts, essays and photos for the sole purpose of doing business without worrying about safety or after-sales service"

MNC: In 2011, what will be your objectives in terms of sales but also of network, image and communication? ?
J. S.
: We want to reach 100 resellers in France. The quantitative progression will happen naturally. The objective is to further improve after-sales service, because that is what will differentiate us from these wild sales that arrive from anywhere … In this regard, communication will be very selective because it is inadmissible to see anyone use our texts, essays and photos for the sole purpose of doing business without worrying about safety or after-sales service.

MNC: What will be your major events this year ?
J. S.
: We still have a busy schedule:

  • February 6 and 7: The JPMS of Lyon

  • February 25, 26 and 27: Motorcycle Show in Lyon Eurexpo

  • March 12 and 13: Pecquencourt

  • April 1, 2 and 3: Cagnes-sur-Mer

  • May 13, 14 and 15: Port Grimaud

  • June 10, 11, 12 and 13: Coast Bike Show

  • August 5, 6 and 7: Free Wheels in Courpière

  • From August 27 to September 4: Brescoudos 34

  • And of course the Mondial du deux Roues in Paris !

MNC: In conclusion, which maxim would best illustrate your 2010 results? ?
J. S.
: A Biker’s work is never done !
