MOTORRAD competed in the original class. 2.5 hp were allowed, in the end we didn’t even have 1.6 hp available. Team member Dina’s 50 kg fighting weight doesn’t help either.

Team MOTORRAD – and yes, we came fresh from a bad taste party: Tobi Munchinger (PS test editor), Andi Bildl (test chief MOTORRAD), Thorsten Dentges (MOTORRAD editor), Petra Wiesner on the Hercules Prima 4 (producer of the Zweiradgruppe) and Dina Dervisevic (editor at motorradonline.de).

After the nasty left-U comes the right-left. So you have to stay on the gas, otherwise one or the other car will starve to death on the ascent to the ramp.

Sascha Feuster

It shouldn’t be too motivated. P.S .: That’s not one of us lying in the bale of straw. P.P.S .: But we were also lying. A total of 4 or 5 times.

In terms of performance, we were able to achieve full throttle. Also in this curve.

But no matter who was wearing what, most of them started with proper protective equipment.
Sascha Feuster

Like test boss Andi Bildl (in Racing-Bleu) we had full protector jackets and knee pads under our tracksuits, enduro boots and gloves were a matter of course.

The assistance of the race management – the same applies here: Your instructions will be followed immediately.
Sascha Feuster
41/48
Especially in the racing class, the following also applies to the spectators: If the race management says that you are not allowed to stand here because it is too dangerous, then you are not standing there either.

MOTORRAD works team in 13th place
Fierce duels, extremely motorized projectiles, drivers pedaling wildly – and relaxed exuberance among teams and spectators: the Stuttgart moped race entered its fourth round in 2018 – and MOTORRAD competed with a team in the original class.
Dina Dervisevic
06/29/2018
Being there is everything! Such a stupid saying …, I would have thought last year. In 2017 the MOTORRAD editorial team was still among the spectators, in 2018 we started with a works team. The setting: a staked meadow course at the Waldgasthaus Krummbachtal – idyllically situated between the old Solitude race track and the Bosch headquarters on the Gerlinger Schillerhohe. Paramedics and track doctor on site, race management with a clear view, test bench measurement compulsory. Fun event? Clear! But professional down to the last detail.

Our six-person team is also professional: test boss Andi Bildl shines with years of racetrack experience, test editor Johannes Muller convinces with his pronounced weakness for two-stroke engines, Tobi Munchinger – PS editor and R6 Cup driver – is bursting with ambition, and editor Thorsten Dentges has already celebrated Great success in Nordic Walking and the author, Dina Dervisevic, editor of motorradonline.de, qualified on the weight-to-power basis.
Thorsten Dentges
The team drove under the motto “just don’t look good!” (from left to right): Tobi Munchinger (PS test editor), Andi Bildl (MOTORRAD test chief), Thorsten Dentges (MOTORRAD editor), Petra Wiesner on the Hercules Prima 4 (producer of the two-wheeler group) and Dina Dervisevic (editor motorradonline.de).
Our producer Petra Wiesner was the unofficial team leader and responsible for branding and pragmatism. The multiple world and European archery champion waved the self-painted skull flag to change drivers and always kept an eye on the goal: 1.) Victory. 2.) the victory. 3.) Ok, top ten is enough. 4.) Don’t be last. 5.) Oh man, can we even start? The spectrum ranged from cockiness to being there is everything.
So on Saturday, June 23rd, we started racing day with high spirits. The task was to master the qualifying at 10 a.m., the first 45-minute stint at 12:45 p.m. and the second 45-minute race at 3:30 p.m. Our team pushed the maximum allowed with five drivers, other teams started with only two drivers. Makes sense, because every change of driver takes time. But being there is everything. And a lot of people wanted to be there. Just not a mechanic.
“I pull the gas tap and nothing happens!”
And so we picked up speed in free practice. Well, actually not really. “It doesn’t work! I pull the gas tap and nothing happens! That felt different yesterday. ”So our focus in qualifying shifted to a top ten starting position. Until the chain broke us. Suddenly it was about more elementary things. Namely the start in itself. With spare parts and the help of teams such as Muggaseggl and MK Cycle Shop, Andi and Johannes got the Hercules Prima 4 back into running condition.
Sascha Feuster
Johannes is screwing on the Hercules Prima 4. Looked professional, but it didn’t bring much performance.
Then we started the first race from position 12. And were optimistic that in the end it would still be enough for the top ten. Until the chain broke again. After less than 30 minutes driving time. In the end, who drives the most laps in 2 x 45 minutes decides on victory and defeat. Pushing does not count. We still seriously considered it.
At this point, at the latest, it was clear to us: The only thing now is to get the car powered again and to drive, drive, drive. Somehow Andi and Johannes managed to get it back, also thanks to the helpfulness and the spare parts warehouse of other teams. Everyone helps everyone here. The Hercules was competitive again for the second run in the afternoon. Well, halfway. So, she drove.
Fun event meets professionalism
In the end, we climbed to 13th place. Well, we really didn’t break anything: One of 20 teams in this class did not start and at least four other teams had more failures than we did. But we went with them, the second race was even complete! And if someone had told me beforehand how we celebrate being there alone – I would have shown him the bird.
Sascha Feuster
What luck – the weather cooperated! So it was called dust instead of mud and deck chair instead of umbrella.
In addition to the great MOTORRAD factory team, this was due to the design of the whole event. I have seldom seen such a mixture of fun events, professionalism and good organization. Lots of spectators found their way to the Krummbachtal, also thanks to the Bosch headquarters, which released their parking garage for visitors, who were then transported to the route by shuttle. There were dumplings and tarte flambee, beer and coffee, roasted almonds and cakes as well as a two-stroke scent with sandy coarse dust – mix 1:50 -, live music and a huge LED screen for all those interested in football.
However, the focus was on around 40 teams, which started with over 120 drivers in three classes: 1. the original class with mopeds up to 2.5 hp, 2. the tuning lite class up to 5 hp and 3. the racing class with all cars over 5 HP. So practically Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP, just different. The three racing classes each drove twice for 45 minutes, with each registered driver having to drive at least 15 minutes.
Thorsten Dentges
It goes without saying that if you couldn’t help setting up on Thursday, you did it on Saturday after the race.
The fastest lap in the racing class was delivered by the Finanztuning team with 17.487 seconds, which completed a total of 245 laps on the course. Schaferle Racing drove a best time of 19.870 seconds in the Tuning Lite class and achieved a total of 236 laps. In the original class, the Muggaseggl set the fastest time of 20.956 seconds and completed 215 laps. Team MOTORRAD, also in the original class, burned a 23,674 into the meadow and landed in 13th place with 173 laps. But hey, being there is everything.
But next time further ahead.

The Mofarennen Stuttgart takes place at the Waldgasthaus Krummbachtal: Krummbachtalstr. 3, 70839 Gerlingen, Germany.
There is no corset for finding a name for the teams: “Mofackers”, “Schnogahuster” and Co – one or the other alcoholic drink could have flowed to support the creative process. But that’s just a guess.
Historically, however, it has been proven that the entire Stuttgart moped race was born out of a crazy idea. And that’s exactly why it is approached with the necessary seriousness: Each floor is provided with a transponder, the completed laps are recorded digitally – whoever has made the most turns over the entire journey time celebrates victory. However, only after the winning cars were put to the test again.
The date for the Mofa race 2019 has not yet been set. Location: Waldgasthaus Krummbachtal. All information, all teams as well as regulations and schedule are then available again mofarennen-stuttgart.de
