April 2018: return of good weather and recovery of the motorcycle market

Page 1 – The good weather returns, market recovery
April 2018 was successful for the motorcycle market in France: 17,764 motorcycles and scooters over 50 cc were registered, a gain of + 7.6% compared to April 2017 which, for the record, was (-5.9%).
Note also that this year, April follows a month of in terms of sales (-0.6%) and damn ugly from a weather point of view. The sales missed during snowy episodes last month were perhaps only delayed ?
The sellers of motorized two-wheelers have taken advantage of beautiful, even very beautiful conditions to satisfy their customers: "the mildness dominated during this month of April with an episode of exceptional heat from the 18th to the 22nd," reports Meteo France. Then the temperatures fell again !
Overall, April 2018 still ranks third among the hottest April months since 1900 (behind those of and), which undoubtedly benefits business: the global warming. weather tarmac appreciably favors the exits of motorcyclists on the roads and their entries in the concessions.
The rain – that the vast majority of users of two-wheelers hate – was unevenly distributed: April was marked by "very surplus accumulations from Normandy to Pas-de-Calais as well as around the Mediterranean on the one hand , and a marked deficit of Alsace north of Rhône-Alpes on the other hand ".
SNCF strikes, bridges and weather…
Similarly, manufacturers have more or less charged according to their novelties and their supplies: Yamaha for example, has tremendously well market rolled, whether in 125 or large displacement, while KTM has lowered on the first sector, mounted on the second … and vice versa for Honda !
Overall, sales of 125 in France soared + 14.5% this month (4,864 units). Perhaps because of the SNCF strikes which occasionally paralyze the followers of the rail, and those of the road by ricochet? An excellent opportunity to highlight the many advantages of motorized two-wheelers…
The big cubes are a little less dynamic: + 5.3% compared to April 2017, for a total of 12,900 registrations. Given the beautiful weather in April and the many bridges scheduled for May, we could hope for a little better, no ?
