When you have a mouth like the Griso’s, you can have wild beasts. Sometimes the musculature is no longer enough … and this is how Mandello’s big hunky roadster asked for a mutation from his parents. The transverse twin thus evolves in proportions that better suit its charisma.. More displacement and doubling of valves for the new Griso 8V engine.
A Guzzi engine is a transverse twin and it’s not about to change it, especially on such a sculptural machine. Conservatism and modernity go hand in hand on this mechanism. From the cooling system through the distribution to the new injectors, no less than 563 components are new from the innovative “Quattrovalvole”. This evolution of the 1200 (75% of the parts are replaced) now leaves 110 horses at 7,500 rpm. Apart from the super typed motor of the MGS-01 Corsa, this is the most powerful mill designed by Guzzi. Perfect for this big and respectable roadster, whose strong character is now identified until the end of the exhaust. Its new design with double exit in 8 is a formidable evocation to the grumpy side of the Griso.
This new moulbif is not the only evolution of the Griso. Its braking gains traction by adopting petal discs and radial brake calipers. The chassis remains almost identical to that of the 1100, that is to say a tubular steel frame connected to a 43 mm inverted fork treated with carbon nitride as well as to the impressive single-sided cardan shaft. The suspensions benefit from more adjustments. Placed on this long, low, rocky silhouette, the pilot adopts a more sporty position: the footrests are positioned further back, the black anodized aluminum handlebars are different, the saddle has a new design; all this to allow him to better feel the machine with the more streamlined body.
The new Griso 8V should now serve as a big blow in the face of the competitors. His heart transplant gives him more powerful beats, a stronger breath, a still marked identity. The new Italian eagle can soar in all its majesty.
