The new edition of the classic is worth it?
As a typical retro bike, it looks astonishingly similar to its ancestor, the Moto Guzzi V7 from 1967. However, the driving dynamics also seem to originate from this time. But also (or especially) 48 HP allow pleasant deceleration away from today’s pressure to perform.

The performance is beginner-friendly: 48 hp. By no means breathtaking. The two additional horsepower, homologated for the 2012 facelift but not measured anywhere else, do not change the tame character of the retro bike presented in 2008. And that’s good. Because the Moto Guzzi V7 does not want to race, but travel, specifically: time travel In the past.

If you chauffeur this machine, you will experience impressively how the trucks of the 1970s drove. Namely pleasant. With tires that are narrow for today’s standards and an easily manageable weight of a good four hundred pounds, you can scurry fool-proof along winding country roads. The relaxed sitting position increases the state of complete stress relief. The petite Moto Guzzi V7 is not a fast, but a nice motorcycle to drive.
Which model variant?
But which model variant should you choose? It doesn’t matter, it’s a matter of taste. The model variants of the Moto Guzzi V7 differ more in appearance than technically. Friends of trendy cafe racers are probably best served with the eye-catching Racer (from 2010), which is also the most expensive in the range because of chrome tanks, wire-spoke wheels and other nice optical gimmicks.
The simple but inexpensive Stone with its pretty cast wheels, high tubular handlebars and the motor designed for a little more torque for 2012 is also very popular. The successor V7 II (from 2015) gets ABS. Used V7s without brake assist are naturally cheaper. You can and should take it, because the stoppers are not overwhelmed on any Moto Guzzi V7.

fact
* System and software updates are in progress; this process may take a few minutes and cause reduced performance. If necessary, there may be several updates in a row. We ask for your understanding. * Update is complete.
The technology of the Moto Guzzi V7 is quite simple – no complicated control units for electronic helpers – and therefore easy to maintain. The maintenance should still be carried out by a competent hand, so look carefully in the service booklet when viewing. An inspection is due every 10,000 kilometers, which is routine
is between 250 and 350 euros.
Some workshops report that cylinder heads are leaking. It is therefore advisable to carry out a meticulous visual inspection, especially in the case of offers from private providers without a warranty obligation. But if the general maintenance condition is correct and the tires are not worn, the Moto Guzzi V7 is a good deal. Accessories are more of a minor matter: Small windscreens and main stands are popular, suitcases or an additional two-person bench (for a cafe or racer) should be taken into account as a minimal increase in value in price negotiations.
Market situation
fact
The model variant Moto Guzzi V7 Cafe (2009 to 2011) with a single bench seat was only sold a good 100 times.
The V7 II, which was (finally) equipped with ABS for the 2015 model year, means that by the end of 2014 many new vehicle “legacy items” (daily registrations for the 2013/2014 model years) will be offered for sale at bargain prices for around 6500 euros at dealerships. Suppliers of V7 used vehicles that are perfectly maintained but no longer virgin can therefore probably only get rid of their machines with a corresponding price gap. Ergo: With less than 6000 euros on pocket, interested parties can quickly and easily find a new Moto Guzzi V7. If you can live with a few more kilometers on the speedometer (the mileage is rarely more than 20,000 kilometers anyway), the journeys to visit are usually limited. Beginners looking for a cheap 48-bike for less than 5,000 euros, on the other hand, have to make an effort: the inventory is low, hardly 1,500 registrations in Germany – and only very few examples can be made out for less than 5,000 euros.
