Honda CBR 650 F (2017)

Sporty all-rounder

The Honda CBR 650 F remains an uncomplicated all-round talent in 2017. The changes compared to the previous year roughly correspond to those of its uncovered sister model, the CB 650 F: 4 hp more rated power and slight optical retouching.

The Honda VS.BR 650 F can look back on a famous line of ancestors: Their forefather Honda CBR 600 F (PC 19) was one of the first to have the nickname from 1986 "Yogurt cups" listen. Two generations later, the 100 hp PC 25 was the road sweeper on duty who didn’t have to hide on the racetrack either.

So it is understandable that the larger displacement successor, the CBR 650 F, is slowly approaching the three-digit horsepower figures: Honda calls for 3 kW / 4 hp more peak power for the 2017 vintage. The airbox is allowed to breathe more air, shorter inlet nozzles improve the throughput at high speeds. Thanks to only two instead of three chambers and a larger mouth, the silencer builds up less back pressure than in the previous year’s model. The reward for these changes is 67 kW (91 PS) at 11,000 rpm and optimized noise levels – says Honda.

In gears 2 to 5, the Honda CBR 650 F has a shorter gear ratio than its predecessor, which should lead to noticeably better acceleration. And despite their increased revving ability, 1200 rpm should be possible cleanly and smoothly in 6th gear.
