Honda SH125i (2020)

Bestseller made from scratch

EICMA 2019

New chassis, new engine, new features – Honda has completely redesigned the popular SH125i. The new scooter celebrates its premiere at the EICMA.

2In 018 the Honda SH125i was one of the most popular scooters in Europe with almost 19,000 units sold. In order to continue this success, the SH was completely redesigned for the 2020 model year. The new Honda SH125i, which will continue to be manufactured in Italy, will be shown for the first time at the EICMA in Milan.

More powerful engine

Let’s start with the 124.8 cm³ four-stroke four-valve engine. This got more bore, less stroke, as well as more compression and now makes 12.5 hp at 8,250 rpm, but only brings a maximum of 11.4 Nm to the start, which is 500 turns earlier at 6,500 rpm. Overall, the new injector should have become significantly more powerful between 4,000 and 10,000 turns. Honda promises better acceleration, more top speed and yet reduced consumption. Of course, the new engine is Euro 5 homologated. A traction control system that can be switched off monitors the flow of power so that the drive torque arrives safely on the road. Also on board is a switchable start / stop system. The cooler was integrated directly into the engine in the interests of mass centralization. The starter and alternator are designed as an integrated component.

SH with a new look

The new drive unit swing arm is packed in a new tubular steel frame that places the 7 liter tank in front of the driver. This creates space for 10 liters of storage space under the pillion seat. The driver himself continues to sit at a height of 799 mm on the 134 kg SH125i. The Japanese also have slow a hand in the optics without imposing radically new lines on the SH. The headlights are H-shaped. The floor in the hatch is still flat, the bench line is still flat. In addition to the new storage compartment, this also includes an 18-liter helmet compartment that now offers a USB port for charging mobile devices. It remains with 16-inch rims, rear stereo struts and ABS. The entire lighting has been converted to LED technology, and the cockpit relies entirely on LCD instruments.
