Born on August 7, 1991 in Palma de Mallorca, Salom competed before getting on his first podium in, second behind Maverick Viñales.

After two seasons of Moto3 in 2012 and 2013 with nine victories to his credit, he joined Moto2 in 2014 with notably a third place in and a second in. Also on Kalex in 2016, he finished second in .
