KTM 1290 Super Duke RR

Even beastier than the beast

KTM is working on an even sharper 1290 Super Duke. At least that’s what the latest industry rumors say.

KTM plans to diversify its 1290 series even further, with an even sharper version of the 1290 Duke R. The version, presumably baptized RR, brings less weight and a further optimized chassis.

9 kilos down, limited to 500 copies

There is no official announcement from Mattighofen. However, rumors say that the Duke R should lose around nine kilograms. This is made possible by numerous new add-on parts made of carbon, a new rear frame, a titanium rear silencer from Akrapovic and new forged wheels.

The spring elements benefit from a revision, with the latest features in the form of WP Apex Pro components being installed. More refined driving modes are also conceivable. The 180 PS and 140 Nm V2 remains untouched.

The KTM 1290 Super Duke RR will be launched as a limited special series. Insiders speak of a print run of 500 copies. The price of a possible RR should scratch the 20,000 euro mark. Even the normal 1290 Duke R costs 17,834 euros.

Conclusion

A further tightened 1290 Duke R is sure to find its fans. But wouldn’t it then be time to translate the MotoGP successes into a new production super bike? Gladly based on the 1290 Duke RR.
