Sunday June 20, 2010 – 6.30 p.m.. Pole-man of this first MotoGP Grand Prix on the Silverstone track, the Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo won with art and style in Great Britain ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and Ben Spies.

In the absence of Valentino Rossi (read) and Hiroshi Aoyama, forfeit following a violent fall during the warm-up this morning, the starting grid of the premier class only had 15 drivers when the lights went out..

Motivated like never before, Jorge Lorenzo took the lead in the first corner in front of the 70,123 spectators gathered around the Silverstone track. Obviously determined to go it alone, the n ° 99 must however quickly deal with the ardor of his rival for the race and the championship, Dani Pedrosa.

The two Spaniards then offer a real recital of overtaking in front of Randy de Puniet, Andrea Dovizioso, Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies. Eager to confirm his recent progress, Marco Melandri is doing too much and making a mistake.

Quickly, Lorenzo manages to get rid of Pedrosa who downgraded to fourth position behind a very fit Randy de Puniet and Andrea Dovizioso: the two Honda riders fight like ragpickers at each curve while Lorenzo widens the gap at the head of the race.

A priori uncomfortable in his RCV212 following his fall in qualifying and then in the warm-up this morning, Dani Pedrosa is struggling to contain Nicky Hayden’s Ducati who ends up overtaking him to steal fourth place. The HRC rider then found himself struggling with a Marco Simoncelli, superb ease on the English track: the Italian rookie made a mad interior on Pedro, but the Iberian retaliated immediately and resumed his position in front of n ° 58 and Ben Spies !

The fastest driver in the race, Jorge Lorenzo stuns the competition, starting with Randy de Puniet (2nd) and Andrea Dovizioso (3rd) who are unable to go below 2’04 like the Fiat-Yamaha driver.

Cautious at the start of the race, the American Ben Spies increased the pace and first got rid of Marco Simoncelli before falling on Pedrosa, whom he overtook shortly after, followed by Simoncelli on his Gresini team RCV. Badly started, Casey Stoner fights to extricate himself from the Top 10 and finally manages to get back on Simoncelli and Pedrosa whom he easily overtakes.

Plugged in by Randy de Puniet, Andrea Dovizioso also decides to sound the charge: the Italian takes out the big attack to achieve a trapper’s braking on the French … but Randy fights! After a few laps, n ° 14 thus manages to tax "Dovi" and his official Honda. !

Uncompromising, Jorge Lorenzo and his Yamaha M1 prance in the lead with more than eight seconds ahead of Randy. Ten laps from the finish, it’s hard to see how victory could henceforth escape the Mallorcan for this first GP contested in 800 cc on the English track. Finally, forced to give up his second place to Dovizioso, Randy de Puniet finds himself threatened by Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies while at a few lengths, Stoner tries to get back into contact with the leaders ahead of Simoncelli and Pedrosa.

In a fight with Hector Barbera and his teammate Alvaro Bautista, Loris Capirossi misses his braking at the end of the pit straight line and leaves to garden in the gravel in which he ends up falling: definitely, Silverstone will be a weekend to forget for Suzuki. .. With four laps to go, Jorge Lorenzo extended his lead to almost 8.5 seconds over his first pursuers: Dovizioso, De Puniet, Hayden and Spies.

The four men are held in a pocket handkerchief, but Randy seems to have problems with traction when exiting the curve: Nicky Hayden takes the opportunity to make him inside, immediately imitated by Ben Spies.

Now unable to keep up with the pace of the end of the race, Randy fights with his Honda which slips at each end of the curve, which prompts Stoner to tax the French two laps from the finish.

Pressing for a few turns, "Big Ben" Spies hesitates to overtake Hayden who blocks the way to his first podium in MotoGP … But the American’s hesitation is short-lived: during the last lap, the rookie gives everything and passes Nicky Hayden who has spread a little in a right! The Tech3 driver manages to keep his third place until the checkered flag, which Jorge Lorenzo crosses with a large lead ahead of Andrea Dovizioso.

Casey Stoner finished the race fifth, in the back of his teammate’s saddle, while Randy de Puniet signed a very good sixth place, even if the Parisian was aiming for an even better result starting from second place on the starting grid !

With this third victory in five races, Jorge Lorenzo consolidates his lead in the championship (115 points) ahead of Andrea Dovizioso (78) who ejects his teammate Dani Pedrosa (73) from second place in the provisional. Although absent for two Grands Prix, Valentino Rossi is still in 4th position ahead of Nicky Hayden, Randy de Puniet and Ben Spies, who climbs back to seventh place overall.

GP 125: Marquez signs the double at Silverstone

Sunday June 20, 2010 – 5:15 p.m.. Author of his third pole position of the 2010 season at Silverstone, the Spanish Marc Marquez was able to materialize his good speed by winning the British GP in category 125.

The n ° 93 fought tooth and nail with his compatriot Pol Espargaro during a large part of the race – at the cost of many contacts between the two 125s! – before managing to get the best of n ° 44 after the latter left the track at the end of the race.

Isolated ten seconds from the rest of the peloton four laps from the checkered flag, Marquez and Espargaro completely dominated Bradley Smith and Nico Terol for the entire race. Tomoyoshi Koyama finished in fifth place ahead of Sandro Cortese, Randy Krummenacher and the Nice driver Johann Zarco, who signed a magnificent eighth place in this Grand Prix which clearly seems to be doing well for the French drivers !

Pol Espargaro remains at the head of the 125 world championship with one point ahead of Nicolas Terol while Marc Marquez climbs back to third place thanks to this second victory in a row. Bradley Smith returns to fourth place in the provisional ahead of Rabat, Vasquez, and Koyama.

Moto2: Cluzel scores first GP victory at Silverstone !

Sunday June 20, 2010 – 3:30 p.m.. Qualified on the front line on the Silverstone track, Jules Cluzel won the first Grand Prix of his career at the British GP: the native of Montluçon thus joins the Sarron brothers and Jacques Bolle (president of the FFM) on the list French drivers winners on the English track !

Third in Qatar, eleventh in Jerez, then victim of two consecutive falls in France and Italy, Jules Cluzel (Forward Racing) has finally managed to transform his indisputable speed into Moto2: author of a superb race, the n ° 16 has perfectly managed to manage the pressure inflicted by his own teammate Claudio Corti, not to mention the attacks of Fonsi Nieto, Julian Simon, Thomas Luthi and Scott Redding.

Quickly able to set his own pace, Cluzel however had to thwart the blows of Corti and Simon then the Swiss Thomas Luthi, author of a superb comeback. The former 125 world champion thus managed to dislodge Cluzel from his first place until he left too wide in the turn where Corti had just fallen……

Pugnacious, Jules Cluzel then took over the reins of the event to never let go and signed his first Grand Prix victory ahead of Thomas Luthi, Julian Simon, Scott Redding, Alex Debon, Shoya Tomizawa and Mike di Meglio who also signed his best Moto2 performance.

In the provisional classification, Toni Elias (10th in the race) retains the leadership with 15 points ahead of Tomizawa while Luthi, Simon and Corsi complete the Top 5. Thanks to his superb victory, Jules Cluzel climbs back to 7th place at 34 points of the leader.

Jorge Lorenzo in pole position at Silverstone !

Saturday June 19, 2010 – 5:00 p.m.. Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo has just taken pole position at the British Grand Prix after qualifying, the first of the 4-stroke MotoGP era on the Silverstone circuit.

Hardly contested, these qualifications allowed the top category cracks to lower the lap times on the fast and bumpy English track: Dani Pedrosa and Randy de Puniet only took a few laps to improve the reference time set by Pedrosa during the free practice session this morning.

The two Honda riders will exchange first place during the first quarter of an hour, until the HRC rider scores an impressive 2’04.402.

But at 30 minutes from the end, things get tough for Pedrosa who saw himself dominating the entire qualifying session: Lorenzo became more and more threatening and Stoner managed to sign a superb 2’04.394, or 0.008 sec more quick as the Honda rider !

Randy "Fast and Furious" by Puniet !

The maneuver gave Lorenzo ideas: diligent, Valentino Rossi’s teammate pulled out all the stops a few minutes later and managed to dislodge Stoner with a time of 2’04.163.

Delighted with his performance, Jorge Lorenzo returned to the pits to make small improvements on his M1 and during this time, less than a quarter of an hour from the end of the session, Randy de Puniet made an anthology lap in 2’03.706, then in 2’03.434 the next loop! Randy is not content only to relegate Lorenzo to more than seven tenths (!), He is also the first driver to go below the 2’04 mark on the English track !

"Jorgeuil" Lorenzo will join him five minutes from the end, but the Spaniard will have to deploy all his talent to surpass Randy "Fast and Furious" de Puniet three minutes from the checkered flag (2’03.308) !

Pedrosa at the mobile clinic…

While trying to force, Dani Pedrosa loses the front in a very fast left and falls violently in the very last seconds: his RCV212 rolls over him before literally exploding in a protective railing…

Well sounded, n ° 26 is held above all on the left knee and is visibly suffering martyrdom: yet hard on the evil, Dani even needs the help of the marshals to get up and must be evacuated on a stretcher … Immediately , the Catalan pilot is taken to the mobile clinic where he manages to go independently when getting out of the ambulance: a first examination confirms "simple" bruises on his right and left knees, which should not prevent him from drive tomorrow.

Pedrosa is imitated a few seconds later by Randy de Puniet who however has the chance to get up visibly unscathed: the Frenchman ensures that he does not suffer from his fall. Jorge Lorenzo is therefore a big favorite for the race, especially with a diminished Pedrosa: he will be ahead of Puniet, Pedrosa and Dovizioso on the starting grid on Sunday.

As for Dovizioso, he is 0.687 sec behind the fastest time and precedes Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner, Ben Spies, Marco Melandri and Colin Edwards. Finally the Suzuki Boy’s, while they thought they could shine at Silverstone, on the contrary seem to be bottoming out: Capirossi is 14th behind Aleix Espargaro while Alvaro Bautista is 15th and penultimate in front of Mika Kallio, with all even 3,672 sec behind the leader…

Saturday June 19, 2010 – 1:00 p.m.. During the second free practice session (FP2), the young Catalan managed to gain 2.642 sec compared to his best time the day before to drop below 2’05 (2’04.944) !

The HRC rider is the only MotoGP rider to have crossed this bar and this promising stopwatch reminds Lorenzo that "Pedrosimo" did not come to Great Britain to make up the figures! Superb second, less than three tenths behind Dani Pedrosa, Randy de Puniet slams a 2’05.241 auspicious a few hours from the qualifying session.

The fastest driver yesterday, Jorge Lorenzo is third, a tenth of a second behind our national "playboy"! The LCR pilot precedes top guns like Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovisiozo, Nicky Hayden or Marco Melandri and Colin Edwards !

"I really enjoyed myself today on a track that I was discovering and which I liked instantly", enthuses Randy. "It suits my riding style perfectly with quick portions and sequences. I would even say that it is the most beautiful track in the championship. It is true that it is still a little bumpy but that does not disturb us. not too much for the development of the motorcycle ", assures the N ° 14, currently first private rider of the MotoGP championship (6th).

Still in the learning phase on his "semi-official" RCV21, Marco Simoncelli then leads Aleix Espargaro and Ben Spies who crashed at low speed with his Yamaha M1 during the session..

Lorenzo dominates Free Practice 1 at Silverstone

Friday June 18, 2010 – 5:15 p.m.. MotoGP World Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo wasted no time in finding his feet on the new Silverstone track yesterday afternoon in the first free practice session. The Fiat-Yamaha rider set a time of 2’05.991 with ten minutes remaining and remains the only one to go under 2’06, which puts him ahead of Casey Stoner by 0.142 s.

“I’m happy with our first day of work here at Silverstone and really liked the new circuit,” said Lorenzo, the only representative of his team in the absence of Valentino Rossi. “We worked hard and I have does a lot of laps to understand every turn and every straight line. ”

“Unfortunately it was quite cold today and the track was also cold, which means it was quite difficult without a reference point, but with a little luck we will have better weather tomorrow and Sunday,” added the Mallorcan. which is 25 points ahead of Pedrosa.

Despite the cold and the few drops of rain that fell at the end of the session, Lorenzo therefore seems to be there for this British Grand Prix and precedes the Ducati rider and the Italian Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda). Frenchman Randy de Puniet (LCR Honda) also showed very good acclimatization to the new English track and secured a superb fourth place, less than a tenth of a second behind Dovi.

Ben Spies (Yamaha Tech 3) is fifth, 1.259s behind Lorenzo and almost four tenths ahead of Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), the winner of the previous race at Mugello. Marco Melandri (San Carlo Honda Gresini) is just two thousandths of a second behind the Spaniard, in seventh position.

Round out the top ten Aleix Espargaró (Pramac Racing), Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) and Nicky Hayden (Ducati).
