In the test: Suzuki GSX 1250 F
Full disguise
With Bandit technology and GSX 650 F optics, Suzuki expanded its touring range. The result: the Suzuki GSX 1250 F.
M.suppose a large Suzuki Bandit, the full fairing of the GSX 650 F, a headlight of the GSX-R 1000 K4, and the new sports tourer from Suzuki is ready. What sounds thrown together has become a touring motorcycle.
The Suzuki GSX 1250 F offers everything you could wish for on long stages – a firm chassis that is not overwhelmed by a passenger, all kinds of lashing options for luggage and of course a powerful motor with plenty of torque. The inline four-cylinder delivers 108 Nm to the gearbox at 3700 tours, which means pressure in all situations. Shift-lazy, the Suzuki GSX 1250 F can be toured beautifully on country roads in high gears.
If you like it sportier, you have to move the engine at the upper end of the speed scale. 98 HP rated power are available at 7500 rpm, beyond that it gets tough – turning it up to 9500 rpm does not bring much. If you do it anyway, a superfluous shift light will remind you of the gear change. In addition, the Suzuki GSX 1250 F develops fine vibrations at higher speeds, which it would like to dampen with thick counterweights on the footrests and a handlebar mounted in rubber.
Despite two balancer shafts, the engine runs a bit rough. The Suzuki GSX 1250 F is clearly more touring than an athlete. Your chassis has proven itself a thousand times over in the big bandit. It works tightly, yet comfortably and offers reserves for pillion passengers and luggage. The standard ABS ensures safety, even if the brakes lack a clear pressure point and appear a bit dull. As befits a sports tourer, there is a luggage system for an extra charge of 510 euros, consisting of a sturdy holder, top case and two side cases. This makes go along vacation trips for two possible.
On country roads, the 19-liter tank allows a range of up to 380 kilometers. However, the driver will want a break in between because the seat is tightly padded. The knee angle is pleasantly open, and even long riders can comfortably accommodate their legs. With the GSX 1250 F, Suzuki should have great success. The bike is well equipped and offers decent performance. However, the greatest strength is the affordable price.
