Indian novelties model year 2019
Updates to Chief, Springfield & Co.
Indian has already revealed some innovations for the 2019 model year in the USA. The Chief, Chieftain, Springfield, Scout and Roadmaster models get various new features.
For the 2019 model year, Indian is developing an evolution of small steps for its models. The first innovations for the Chief models have now been announced, S.pringfield and Roadmaster. The motor control of the V2 motors was combined with different driving modes. Drivers can now choose between Standard, Tour and Sport using the handlebar switch.
V2 with cylinder deactivation
The selective cylinder deactivation for the rear cylinder is also new. When the engine is at a standstill and the engine is running, it is simply switched off. As soon as the gas is activated, the rear unit switches on again. The driver should not notice anything about the transition. The cylinder deactivation is implemented with a variable valve control. The deactivated cylinder is supposed to increase the running smoothness and thus the comfort when stationary.

Indian also updates for the infotainment system. In the small, slightly modified handlebar fairing, new two-way loudspeakers and a new equalizer have been placed to improve the sound of the audio system.
The Dark Horse models from Springfield and Chief are supposed to be even blacker. The exhaust system and various other components now also have a black surface.
The only new feature of the Scout models is a USB socket to power mobile devices.

Facelift for Chieftain
Indian
All lighting elements are now based on LED technology.
Indian is also giving its Chieftain series an update. Newly designed cases and panels as well as new equipment details are on offer.
The most striking changes to the new Chieftain models are the sleeker suitcases, which now nestle closer to the fenders, and new handlebar covers. From 2019, like the new indicators, these will be equipped with LED lights. There are also new panels on the fork legs. The more dynamic look is completed by a lowered rear wheel suspension as well as a new seat and new badges on the tank and the front fender.
As with the other models, the Chieftain models now also have three driving modes – Standard, Tour and Sport – as well as cylinder deactivation of the rear cylinder when stationary.
Indian has stepped up with the sound system. Newly arranged speakers and a new, speed-dependent equalizer should significantly improve the sound of the more powerful audio system. The special model Dark Horse finally comes up with new color options. Prices for the refreshed Chieftain models have not yet been announced
