Harley-Davidson Fat Bob review

Thick is chic

One of them is always out of line. In the case of the Dyna family of HArley-Davidson is that the Fat Bob. It is the only Dyna that rolls on small but all the fatter 16-inch disc wheels. If you can still use a comparatively modest 180 at the rear, it rolls over a 130 at the front. It definitely looks pretty cool. Just like the chrome-plated, small double headlights, which together with the double-barreled exhaust system and the shiny aluminum disc wheels provide a fine contrast to the martial matt black of the engine and sheet metal.

There is probably a muffled intake noise from the new air filter box.

It goes on casually even when you sit up, your butt easily finds its comfortable place. With your legs stretched out and the thick handlebar that guides the cables of the switch units firmly in your hand. However, the passenger has to be content with an emergency seat, as it is difficult to hold on to the backward sloping cushion.

Bulky appearance

Black is the basic color, everything else costs extra.

The 96 twin-cam engine goes to work in a relaxed manner. From idle speed it drums gently but powerfully and hangs extremely accurately on the gas. Although there is no balancer shaft, the driver only hears a steam engine-like pounding from the elastically suspended engine, which gently massages the peritoneum. The V2 combined with a six-speed gearbox offers a wide speed range and is extremely elastic. Letting it up in high gear with a full beat is a real pleasure.

By the way, leading the fat bob over winding roads, too, even if the forehead brake requires a very firm grip. Because, contrary to what the name and thick wheels suggest, it goes around the corner willingly and offers sufficient lean angle freedom when moving around the species. And a surprising degree of stability, despite the somewhat soft but very sensitive fork. And even the rear suspension struts get a surprising amount of comfort from the short suspension travel and the tight coordination of the chrome-plated stereo suspension struts. So a very sociable friend, the fat Bob, who spreads a really good mood. Especially since it remains somewhat on the carpet at around 16,000 euros.
