Kawasaki W 800 (2020)

The model family is getting bigger

EICMA 2019

Kawasaki is adding a new member to the W 800 family: the new one is simply called the W 800 and is intended to function as the classic basic model. It was presented at the Tokyo Motor Show.

The newly introduced Kawasaki W 800 relies on the well-known vertical shaft twin-cylinder with a displacement of 773 cm³, just like the well-known W 800 Street and W 800 Cafe models. However, the engine has been adapted in many points for the Euro 5 standard. The power remains unchanged at 48 hp, which should be achieved at 6,000 turns. The maximum torque of now 62.9 Nm is delivered at 4,800 rpm. The refreshed twin can be recognized by its chrome sheen.

Even more retro look

Another new feature of the W 800 is the 19-inch front wheel, which is fitted with a 100/90 tire. At the back, the 18-inch rim with a 130/80 tire remains. A newly formed tubular handlebar should ensure a seating position that should be somewhere between the upright posture on the street and the sporty posture on the cafe. There are also significantly more components in a chrome look, including on the tank, engine and instruments as well as the new retro indicators. The W 800 is equipped with a main stand as standard.

If you want to further customize your W 800, Kawasaki offers a wide range of conversion parts. These include various seats, heated grips, a helmet lock, chrome-plated engine protection bars, a chrome-plated luggage rack, chrome-plated grab handles, a chrome cover for the throttle valves and a chrome-plated taillight bracket.

Prices for the new model variant have not yet been announced.
