The Hungarian Grand Prix is compromised
The Hungarian MotoGP Grand Prix, which was to take place on September 20, appears compromised due to a delay in the construction of the Balaton Ring circuit by a Spanish group, the Hungarian Minister of Local Government announced on Tuesday..
The Hungarian Motorcycle Grand Prix, which was to take place on September 20 at the Balaton Ring circuit, is in serious jeopardy due to a construction delay, Hungarian Minister of Local Government Istvan Gyenesei announced on Tuesday. "The Spanish partner for the construction of the circuit has not started the work planned for the holding of the race"said the minister.
The Spanish group Sedesa was responsible for building the 4,650 meters of the Balatonring near Lake Balaton, in western Hungary, for 80 million euros. The circuit was then to be operated by the Spanish company Worldwide Circuit Management (WCM) in association with the Hungarian Tourist Board.
Mr. Gyenesei, however, claimed on Tuesday to be "without official news"from its Spanish partners, says AFP.
Announced with great fanfare by Dorna (the Spanish company that manages the rights of MotoGP) to replace the Chinese Grand Prix and ride the 125 world champion title for the Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi, the Balaton Ring is a joint project between promoters Spanish and Hungarian (read our).
