As expected yesterday (read MNC of March 14, 2011), the Japanese Grand Prix initially scheduled for April 24 has just been officially postponed to October 2, 2011, between the Aragon Grand Prix (September 18) and that of Australia ( October 16).

"Following the disasters that have hit Japan these days, and a corresponding request from the organizer, the Japanese Grand Prix, on the Twin Ring Motegi circuit (120 km north of Tokyo), scheduled for l ‘origin April 24, is postponed to October 2, 2011 ", announces the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM).

"It was definitely the right decision to take," said Shuhei Nakamoto, executive vice president of HRC immediately: "The circuit and the permanent stands at Motegi have been damaged, it will take weeks to repair everything but I think the circuit will do a good job quickly ".  

The Japanese event is therefore postponed for the second year in a row: in 2010, the Japanese Grand Prix had already been postponed to October 3 following the Icelandic volcanic cloud which had interrupted air links (read).
