Motorbike occasions - Motorbike occasion report: Yamaha FJR 1300 - To ride far and long!

In 2001, the Yamaha FJR 1300 took over from the FJ for a good level GT-sport compromise. Its reliability allowed it to go through the years without changing much until the 2013 model which retains most of the original FJR. Used balance sheet.

To ride far and long !

If sorrowful spirits can blame the Yamaha FJR 1300 for having changed too little during its 11 years of existence, we have to recognize two major qualities: its finish and its reliability. !

Yamaha FJR 1300

  • Release year: 2001

  • Main changes: 2006 and 2013

  • Still in production

  • Budget balance: 8/10

  • Reliability report: 9/10

These assets enabled it to win the calls for tenders of the French administration (except the last one, read), which feels rather satisfied (read the opinion of the pros on the next page).

And for good reason: a Yamaha FJR 1300, normally maintained – therefore cleaned … – is as beautiful after 100,000 km as when it left the dealership. However, it would be reductive to be satisfied with these two points, certainly winners, to describe it..

The FJR presents a very GT comfort, whether for the pilot or the passenger. Only big shocks can be transmitted a little too much to the passenger column, but protection and comfort remain excellent. The only downside lies in very urban use, where the pilot may suffer from the heat given off by the engine block, in particular on models before 2006.

The AS version with piloted clutch suffered in its early stages from low revs that were difficult to control in town, which made driving at low speed unpleasant..

Most owners, who are above all heavy riders and gladly use their Yamaha FJR 1300 for long journeys, say they are first satisfied with the torque / power duo, then with the comfort, and finally with the handling. Braking, ease and approval of transmission are also to be paid to the credit of the FJR.

On the inconvenience side, the bubble causes a frank push in the back in the high position and generates turbulence. As for the feet, they are unfortunately little protected.

Used, a FJR even very strongly mileage can be bought with closed eyes, on the only condition that the scheduled maintenance has been respected. The stunters and other aficionados of breakers and burns being "irrelevant", there is little risk of misuse of this bike which, moreover, holds the rating quite well..

This 2008 Yamaha FJR 1300 ABS is firsthand. In perfect new condition, it is offered at 9,490 € with credit and possible recovery by the concession
