World Supersport riders’ statements at Imola
The fifth round of the 2017 World SSP took place this weekend in Imola, Italy. To complete our almost live report, here are the statements of the Supersport drivers at the end of the Italian race won by Sofuoglu.
Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than the others – have already been able to experience Saturday and Sunday, almost live, the Mondial Superbike and Supersport races on the Imola circuit (for latecomers , read, then).
Find below the statements of the drivers who distinguished themselves on Sunday during the Supersport race. Honor to the winner !
Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki n ° 1), 1st:
“My fortieth WorldSSP success was not easy. The many red flags in particular gave us a lot of trouble. In the end I didn’t have a new rear tire to use for the race. said: "no apologies, no complaints", and I went for the victory. I worked very hard to stay in front with a good rhythm. I am particularly happy for the team because it is a test Italian, so at home for them. I’m also very happy for Kawasaki because it’s a good result ".
Lucas Mahias (Yamaha n ° 144), 2nd:
"I’m delighted with this race, although it was a little strange having to take three starts. It was even very difficult, but I’m happy because it’s a very good result for the championship. The race was weird. : normally we have 17 laps, but today we only completed 11 laps, which made it difficult for me because I am fast on worn tires. This forced us to follow a completely different strategy for this race. I was able to fight with Kenan, not to win, but definitely to fight! This is the first time I have finished a race in Imola, so overall I am very happy. is the key, my target is the championship. As Kenan missed the first few races it is very important to always be on the podium. The new R6 is fantastic. Between Federico and me, we have been on the podium in every race. I can’t wait to be in Donington now! "
Patrick Jacobsen (MV Agusta n ° 99), 3rd:
“Honestly, I’m very happy with this result, especially considering the difficulty of the race and its very fast pace. The guys did an impressive job on the bike. I can’t thank my team enough: it was great to do. get a podium here at Imola, on MV Agusta’s home event. Now let’s move on to Donington and try to get on another podium. ".
Sheridan Morais (Yamaha n ° 32), 4th:
“We worked really hard on the race over the weekend. After Assen we thought we could win the race, but this time our plan didn’t work. The temperature was higher than expected and we chose the wrong tire. . It made our race a lot harder, but I’m still happy to finish in a good fourth place. It could be worse. I’m looking forward to Donington, I look forward to building on that momentum. ".
Jules Cluzel (Honda n ° 16), 6th:
“I’m really disappointed with this weekend. On Friday I tried to get into the race pace quickly, and I was happy because I had made it. In the afternoon we made some adjustments but I fell. I started to lose a little confidence. In qualifying we were close to the best lap times, but not enough. The race was crazy today. Everyone was very excited, and the problem was ‘was that I was starting in the middle of everyone, so I lost time. I didn’t have a bad start but I got stuck and a pilot almost fell in front of me. tried to reach the finish line without making a mistake. This sixth place gives us some points, but the objective is to be in the leading group and fight for the championship "
