Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than the others – have already been able to follow Saturday and Sunday, almost live, the unfolding of the 2018 World Superbike and Supersport races on the Misano circuit. For latecomers:
Below are the statements of the drivers who animated the Supersport race on Sunday. Honor to the winner !
Federico Caricasulo (Yamaha n ° 64), 1st:
“I’m really happy to win here in Misano because it’s always special to win in front of your home crowd. I had the perfect bike this weekend so I have to thank my team and Yamaha for their hard work and commitment. There is no better way to end the first half of the season (two thirds in fact, eight races hard twelve, editor’s note). We start the summer break on a good note. "
Raffaele de Rosa (MV Agusta n ° 3), 2nd:
"After a long series of third places (Assen, Imola, Donington Park and Brno, Editor’s note!), It’s good to be able to step on another step of the podium. I really started to believe that I could fight for the victory but Federico had a good pace and I made a small mistake in the "Tramonto" turn which lost a good opportunity to attack. I’m happy because it’s really nice to ride this bike, the chassis is amazing and the team always does their job perfectly ".
Sandro Cortese (Yamaha n ° 11), 3rd:
"The race went very well for us. We had a lot of trouble the days before and getting third was the best we could do. We always want to win of course, but sometimes we have to bring the points back to the top. home. Thanks to Kallio Racing for a great job this weekend ".
Jules Cluzel (Yamaha n ° 16), 4th:
"Fourth in the race today. Thanks to my team for the work this weekend and thanks for your support and your messages. Important points for the championship".
Anthony West (Kawasaki # 13), 6th:
"I’m only happy when I win, but given our equipment and the lack of budget compared to the other teams, the weekend went pretty well. We missed the boat in the hot Superpole and that gave us got a little further back on the starting grid but overall the team gave me a good bike that we didn’t have to change much from Friday to Sunday. We were once again the best Kawasaki in the race. We hope that the new ECU (unique in 2019, Editor’s note) that we are supposed to receive during the summer holidays will help to bridge the gap between us and the Yamaha ".
Kyle Smith (Honda # 111), 7th:
"I think it was a positive race, although we definitely have things to improve. We didn’t reach the Top 5 as I wanted, but looking at the lap times, the pace was not to be reached. a million miles. I had a very weak first half of the race and had a very bad start, so that at the end of the race my pace seemed really strong. If we can solve the first quarter of the race. the race and the start, we will be able to fight at the forefront ".
Corentin Perolari (Yamaha n ° 24), 12th:
"I’m super happy, I’m swimming in happiness! I followed top pilots without taking too many risks while being at ease. As Christophe said, there are stages to be taken, and I was not still ready to go for 8th place yet so close. Being with them was great. It was incredible to follow Ayrton Badovini, a world champion in Superstock and I did not make any mistakes! The 4 points obtained are very I hope to bring more back next time. See you next stop in Portimao! "
Lucas Mahias (Yamaha n ° 144), fall and retirement:
"My start was good and I knew I had the pace to fight in front, because we had worked a lot for that in free practice. De Rosa braked really hard, I tried to overtake him: he didn’t was really close to a crash. On the second attempt I managed to gain the advantage, but he came right back at me in a very muscular way and there was contact. He made me widen and as soon as I hit the gas, I went highside. My race was over. It’s not a nice way to end a weekend so good for us, and it’s certainly not good for my championship . I’m angry because it was an aggressive maneuver, too aggressive. However, we have to focus on the next race. "
