Calendar of the 2009 World Endurance Championship
The 2009 World Endurance Championship, which will have six events and will bring together a maximum of 20 permanent crews, will see the establishment of a WSBK-style Superpole for the ten fastest teams in qualifying practice.. Calendar.
The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), which received the event organizers and the 23 teams wishing to participate in the entire 2009 World Endurance Championship in Geneva at the beginning of December, adopted the establishment of a session of "Superpole" qualification.
Contested the day before the race, this Superpole will have to decide between the ten teams that have set the best times during qualifying. "This additional session will only take place on a dry track", warns the international body.
"The maximum number of permanent teams entered for 2009 will be 20", continues the FIM which should publish the final list at the beginning of January. The permanent teams undertake to participate in all the events of the Championship, except the 8 hours of Suzuka which remain optional"for cost reasons".
