Bruno Schiltz wins the Coteaux Rally
A mixed rally victory for Bruno Schiltz on the handlebars of his Aprilia 1100 Tuono: winner of the first stage, he yields the second to the leader of the championship, Julien Toniutti on his Aprilia 1100 Tuono V4. Race won therefore, but no points benefit. Report.
Rallye des Côteaux 2018, Page 1: the stage…
After the event held in Mauves (07) last year, Racing Auto Moto Passion (RAMP) is fine-tuning its settings and launching the second edition of its already close to perfection.
With an extended road course, a new race pattern … and this time, good weather !
Three different loops for each stage, two specials per loop (Plats and Les Amboulons), for a total of 493 km to be covered over the entire rally (including 39 km of timed specials).
Fourth out of the five rounds, this second Rallye des Côteaux promises to be decisive to say the least for the final crown. The two contenders for the supreme title are well aware of this and will come out the big game !
But nothing is ever won in advance in road rally … Bruno Schiltz (Aprilia 1100 Tuono), then runner-up to Julien Toniutti (Aprilia 1100 Tuono V4) – in the provisional Elite championship as in the Maxi rally SW Motech category (the more than 1000 cc) 2018 -, is 19 points behind the leader before the Coteaux event.
Of the 120 points remaining to be awarded in the last two rounds of the championship (that of Coteaux in Mauves and that of Ardennes in Rorcroy: 30 points per stage, two stages per rally, 30 for the 1st, 25 for the second, 21 for the third, then 18 and 16, 15, 14, etc.), these 19 points are still recoverable…
As for the other categories, everything is still doable too, which may well not be the case for everyone after this Coteaux rally, especially for the Rally 2 category (medium-displacement) including CTM83 driver Romain Cauquil ( KTM 690 Duke), third in the provisional Elite scratch, holds pole position in Rally 2 with a comfortable lead of 50 points over his pursuer Luc Breban (Husqvarna 701).
Ditto in Sidecar where the leading crew, Galvani / Bresse (Kawazaki 1200 ZX12R), prances 44 ahead of his three-wheeled dolphin, Boujot Bastien and his Canam Spyder 1330…
