An entry level for Honda

Updated in 2004 – mainly to meet Euro 3 emissions standards – the CG is a must-have model in the Honda range…

So, "in Brazil, we have an 80% market share thanks to CG. I visited the Manaus factory and it’s incredible: 1.8 million units per year, it’s a CG that comes off the chains every 16 seconds !", testified the former CEO of Honda Moto France during our interview with the" very big boss ", Suguru Kanazawa, on the occasion of the Paris Motor Show (read).

But while the CG – model "150" with carburetor and front drum brake – continues to have peaceful days in Brazil, in France Honda’s situation is somewhat different: "we lost the XR125L, CG125 and VT125C Shadow", recalls Honda Moto France.

Deprived of entry level therefore, the world number one had to react in order to solidly support its Varadero and CBR in the segment of 125 cc motorcycles, "third segment in terms of PDM in France (13%) after 125 scooters (36%) and roadsters (27%)", underline the managers of the brand in France.

However, it is from India that assistance arrives: in July 2008, the Indians were presented with a new 125: the CBF 125 "Stunner" (read). A kind of CG "Plus", which will arrive in January 2009 in our dealerships !
