All Tests - Honda reinvests low-cost with the CBF 125 - ... but easy and agile cycle part

Titillated by the success of the Yamaha YBR and by that of a multitude of low-cost motorcycles from various origins – China, but also Korea or Taiwan -, Honda launched in January 2009 a new entry-level: the CBF 125. What is worth -it in use ? Test !

…but easy and agile cycle part

On the suspension side, the emphasis is on comfort: the fork, above all, allows you to take advantage of a large part of its 115 mm travel without trailing behind. Very flexible – too much for apprentices "païlotes" who confuse efficiency with rigidity! -, it allows to maintain a good little rhythm and reacts healthily to changes of pace, angle and surface.

Because we must keep in mind that the CBF 125, like its big sisters 600 and 1000, is not intended for sports use! Also, braking level, we notice that the bite and the power of the double piston caliper are moderate, although we can raise the rear wheel well above ground level. !

Likewise, like its competitors, the CBF 125 is satisfied with very thin tires (80 mm at the front and 100 mm at the rear) and first price gums. If on the small dry roads of Nice and its surroundings we have not had to complain about their performance, everyday users will have to take their precautions in case of rain … As always !

We take the opportunity to point out that the CBF 125 will not be available in ABS version. Curious for a brand of which two-thirds of S-Wings are sold in France equipped with ABS-CBS and which wishes, by 2010, to equip all its two-wheelers of more than 250 cc with this system…

To explain this absence, in addition to the significant additional cost – compared to the total value of the machine! -, the Honda Moto France team argues: "there is no motorcycle 125 equipped with ABS and for the moment there is no extremely high demand, but it is to watch", indicates the French staff, somewhat"surprised it is true, by the success of ABS on the CB1000R, which represents 25% of sales"…
