All Tests - The roadster that rocks the sauce ... bolognese! - On the way, excellent troop!

After pitting the Ducati Monster 1100 against the Triumph Speed Triple, Site met face to face with the new Ducati Diva: the Streetfighter. What is the ultimate roadster from the Bologna brand in its standard version ? Test !

On the way, excellent troop !

As soon as the horizon clears, the Streetfighter is radically different: we forget the "Urban Violence" and we finally take full advantage of the health of the engine which, between 4,000 and 8,500 rpm, literally catapults the pilot..

These sharp accelerations are also largely amplified by a delectable soundtrack! It then becomes very difficult to resist the calls of the Ducat ‘: each rotation – too short in France, unfortunately … – of the right handle distills its share of adrenaline … Beware of overdose !

In its standard version, the Streetfighter does not have the famous DTC (Ducati Traction Control) system and its eight levels of sensitivity. But in the 100 horsepower version, the nasty roadster does not damage its Pirelli Corsa III tires, nor its Showa suspensions..

Because these suspensions are quite capable! Naturally, purists will praise the Ohlins for much better performance, but for a biker, even seasoned, Japanese suspenders offer handling above all suspicion..

Fully adjustable, the fork and rear shock absorber offer the "factory output" a compromise oriented more towards sport. Something to satisfy the majority of owners, necessarily "arsouilleurs" at heart !

In rapid sequences or in a full curve, the front axle – which we found heavy at the very beginning … – is on the contrary very lively and sensitive to the pilot’s movements. And there again, we realize that this machine is not intended for the first comer.

Well, at 14 990 € the end we would have suspected. But when it comes time to lend your thoroughbred to a less experienced friend, we will remind him of the endless warnings: "without laughing, this bike accelerates very hard, it is lively and it also brakes very hard !"

Indeed, armed with the same Brembo Monobloc as the S version, the standard Streetfighter is a benchmark in terms of braking. On a beautiful road, we take as much pleasure in entering curves as in getting out! Both very powerful and perfectly controllable, the front brake does not interfere in any way with the angle of the motorcycle or its trajectory. A real treat !

On expressway, the Streetfighter is again difficult: vibrations shake the buttocks of the driver and the obvious lack of protection will limit the connections by freeways. For your information, we know that we are in 6th – there is no gear indicator engaged – when the motorcycle reaches 115 km / h at 4,000 rpm.

A ratio which may however be revised downwards by many owners … Because for banal homologation stories, Ducati – and it is far from being the only manufacturer – makes its motorcycles pull excessively long.

Too, "a lot of customers do not hesitate to remove a tooth on their pinion", tells us Ducati France. On the Streetfighter, we can therefore swap the original 15-tooth pinion for one of 14. The Ducat’s acceleration and pick-up will be improved, as will its behavior at low speed..

Only its fuel consumption will increase slightly over the long haul, which is what it is not really designed for … Nor is it for the duo for that matter. !

The passenger will indeed have to be damn in love with the pilot – or the motorcycle! – to withstand the ordeal … Comfort level, the saddle is hardly better than a hood. Except that the latter, at least, is consistent with the paint of the motorcycle !

In addition, it will be necessary to endure the vibrations of the twin and a consequent distance from the pilot and the tank, however essential to withstand the fiery revolutions or the brakes….

To sum up, the Ducati Streetfighter is a real "diva": tiring in the city, divine on the road, tiring on the motorway and not really a fan of threesomes! “Roadkiller” much more than “Streetfighter”, it offers performance worthy of a Superbike. Logical, as soon as its price approaches … It’s in two months Christmas ?!
