The roadster that rocks the sauce … bolognese !
After pitting the Ducati Monster 1100 against the Triumph Speed Triple, Site met face to face with the new Ducati Diva: the Streetfighter. What is the ultimate roadster from the Bologna brand in its standard version ? Test !
The ultimate new roadster from Ducati
This year, Ducati surprised everyone by launching two new maxi roadsters: the Monster 1100 (read our) and the S4R … Streefighter! Presented, analyzed and analyzed from every angle by the Journal moto du Net (read), the big Ducati novelty of the year takes over from the S4R, symbol of the ultimate Italian roadster…
First observation when you discover the Streetfighter: for sure, design question, the Italians have no equal … And yet, it is a French designer who is at the origin of this new Italian diva: a certain Damien Basset, formerly at Honda where he sketched … quads, go figure !
Certainly, we find all the ingredients of a roadster in Bolognese sauce: L-twin, tubular steel trellis frame and sturdy aluminum single-sided armrests. In addition, the rear part of this new roadster is strongly inspired by that of the 1098. However, the work of the little Frenchie – "Project Leader" of the Streetfighter – is remarkable..
The optics are particularly successful: "it is the "brand" of Streetfighter and leaves no doubt about its character", describes the manufacturer. Its LED position lights"evil look"effectively give it a strong identity and allow it to maintain a family link with the Superbike … and the latest Audi? Yes, a little too !
Thus, the new Italian roadster is closer to the look of the Japanese roadsters – the camouflage has proven itself in the field of hunting! -, without denying his illustrious ancestors or offending the sensitivity of the fans.
Some diehards will still pester, believing that a more "classic" lighthouse would have been a better choice. But when giving us the keys to the beast, Fabien Reze, head of Ducati France’s press service, gives us his personal point of view: "today, we can no longer imagine a sportswoman with a round headlight". So? So you are really stubborn…
In its pearly white livery, the lines of the Streetfighter logically gain in purity. We also note that this color is only available in the standard version – black being reserved for the S version – while the Ducati red color is common to both models..
Seen from the outside, our standard Streetfighter also differs from the S by adopting "simple" Showa suspensions and not golden Ohlins, some painted parts where the S is adorned with carbon and 10-spoke rims against Marchesini whose 5 branches are doubled … On this last point, the "basic" version defends itself very well: we can even prefer the standard wheels to those fitted to the S !
Likewise, the superimposed brushed steel pots are raw on the standard, black on the S. "Cannon" type on both models, these silencers are not the only ones to borrow martial terminology….
Because in addition to these guns and the name of its new model, Ducati has carefully chosen one of the key elements of the bike: the starter! Indeed, "a cover, missile launcher type, covers the starter when the circuit breaker is activated". Original, especially since the" missile "is the pilot !
