Austrian MotoGP GP – Zarco (5th): "Delighted to be back in the Top 5"

With this fourth 5th place of the season, the brilliant MotoGP rookie Johann Zarco is ahead of the two official Yamaha of Viñales and Rossi and remains in 6th position in the provisional general classification at the end of the Austrian GP.

"It was a beautiful Sunday and I am very happy with what we achieved," said the French driver. “The warm up was difficult for me and I was a little worried about the race, but in the afternoon it was warmer so the soft tires were the best option. They gave me a great feeling but I didn’t didn’t really know how they would behave during the GP. I’m happy with my start and I was able to fight during the first lap. Then I felt really strong, but it was difficult to overtake ".

“When I took fifth place, the tires deteriorated a bit so I tried to manage. I wanted to catch Lorenzo for fourth place but it was not possible today, and at the same time I wanted keep my fifth place against Viñales who attacked behind me. In the end it’s perfect and I’m delighted to be back in the Top 5. It’s an excellent result for the championship and for my confidence, because to fight with these guys is very exciting ".
