MotoGP riders’ statements after the 2019 Aragon GP
Find the statements of the main MotoGP riders at the arrival of the Grand Prix of Aragon 2019, won hands down by Honda official Marc Marquez ahead of the Ducatis of Andrea Dovizioso and Jack Miller. MNC Debrief.
Marc Marquez, Honda HRC (1st in qualifying and 1st in race) : "I attacked hard at the start and then I controlled my lead. To tell the truth, I was convinced of my strategy! In the end, everything went perfectly and we are leaving this track which I love with 25 Additional points We will therefore have a first match point from Buriram (with 98 points ahead of Dovizioso in the provisional, Marquez can win his 8th world title in the next race in Thailand, Editor’s note!).

- MNC special file :
"I’m happy with this win. It sounds easy but in the end we worked really hard and fell on Friday which shows that we were attacking. Of course I will try to fight for the victory in Thailand, as in every weekend, although I know for a fact that Andrea will be very strong there too ".
Andrea Dovizioso, Ducati Factory (10th in qualifying and 2nd in race): "I managed my race perfectly, I was picking up tenths, without ‘hitting’ the rear tire. I was consistent and that is clearly what allowed me to finish ahead of Maverick Viñales. The temperatures were quite good. different compared to the day before, which gave us the opportunity to make the right choice of tire (, NDRL) ".
"In my opinion, the soft tire was better on the left sidewall and as far as I saved it, it went well (…). Anyway, this is an important result, because at Silverstone, we had a chance to fight for the win and we lost some big points. In Misano we then struggled a lot. We needed such a result. ".
Jack Miller, Ducati Pramac (4th in qualifying, 3rd in race): "It feels good to be back on the podium. To be honest we had a solid weekend. We worked really hard in every session, we had a series of long runs, so I think we deserve this result. , which is more after Misano where we had suffered so much ".
"I got off to a good start then I quickly played with the maps to try to preserve the rear tire, because it was a long race. I didn’t want to destroy my tire by chasing Marc. "You needed binoculars to see Marc anyway! Maverick was able to overtake me but started having trouble in the long corners, especially the left ones, so I stayed calm and made it to the podium." It’s the end of the European tour and I’m going back to Australia to surprise my mom! "
Maverick Vinales, Yamaha Factory (3rd in qualifying and 4th in race) : Poor tire choice for Quartararo, Rossi and Viñales
Fabio Quartararo, Yamaha Petronas (2nd in qualifying and 5th in race):
Cal Crutchlow, Honda LCR (7th in qualifying, 6th in race) : "I am happy with this result, because today it was a race that we absolutely had to finish after the disaster of last week (fall five laps from the finish in Misano, editor’s note)".
“So getting a good result in Aragon is a good thing. I just lost too much time because I got caught in some stupid battles in the first lap and then in the middle of the race I also went off the track and lost a few more seconds ".
"I’m happy with my overall pace as we didn’t think the race would go like this. I was quick at the start and then kept my pace throughout the race. I was able to pass some good overtaking. and get a top six here in Aragon ".
Aleix Espargaro, Aprilia Gresini (5th in qualifying, 7th in race) : "This result is great. The team and I gave 100%, and we deserve it. At the beginning, with the fuel tank full, I did not have a good feeling with the front, but the situation changed. improved after a few laps ".
"I had a lot of fun: fighting in the front group – and beating Rossi below, Editor’s note! – is always nice, even if the characteristics of the track have definitely helped us".
Valentino Rossi, Yamaha Factory (6th in qualifying and 8th in race) :
Andrea Iannone, Aprilia Gresini (11th in qualifying, 11th in race) : "I had to grit my teeth this weekend, especially in the race because the pain in the shoulder forced me to save energy when the grip decreased (the Italian revived an old injury during of its three falls in Misano, Editor’s note).
"I’m delighted with the result for the team, but we have to continue to work hard to reduce the gap in acceleration and top speed compared to Aleix (the Italian is stronger than the Spanish and it pays in V-max, Editor’s note). Besides, we can’t let this race fool us: it’s a track that suits the Aprilia well, so we still have a long way to go ".
Miguel Oliveira, KTM Tech3 (16th in qualifying and 13th in race) : "It was a good race today. We had a decent fight with strong drivers, which makes me happy. It was difficult to overtake, especially in the last laps, but I fought".
"I thought I had more potential today (he finished first KTM rider 33 seconds from the winner, Editor’s note …), but it’s good to finish the race this way after missing the last two races. much more calm and relaxed feeling to approach the challenges ahead ".
Mika Kallio, KTM Factory (18th in qualifying and 17th in race): "My last MotoGP race was a long time ago, so it was difficult to find the rhythm and to find the same level as the others. We needed the laps today and I think we did a good job. Everything can always be improved, but for this first weekend, everything went well (Kallio replaces Zarco, laid off by KTM, Editor’s note).

- MNC of September 7, 2019 :
- MNC of September 22, 2019 :
"The only disappointing thing was to miss the points and I think I may have made a mistake with the choice of the tire (Kallio chose the hard like the, Editor’s note). I lacked experience on how the soft or hard would behave. (…) We are going to set ourselves objectives now for the other weekends this year and we will see how it goes in Thailand ".
Jorge Lorenzo, Honda HRC (19th in qualifying, 20th in race): "’I was hoping for a good result at the start of the race because I had made a very good start, and I was quite competitive in the first laps. But very quickly I lost a lot of grip on the rear tire (a soft , like his teammate who finished 46.087 sec ahead of him, Editor’s note!).
- MNC of September 22, 2019 : Lorenzo does not intend to give up his Honda to Zarco in 2020 !
"I tried to deal with this phenomenon by being as flexible as possible, but I gradually took a step back: I would rather have started the race badly and finished strong. The positive aspect is that I learn more as I go. and on the set-ups and I’m happy with the way some sessions went. Congratulations to Marc and the Repsol Honda team for this great victory. ".
Franco Morbidelli, Yamaha Petronas (2nd in qualifying and crash during the race):
