Motorcycle and scooter market 2019: hot atmosphere in July, lukewarm in August
The high temperatures of July 2019 seem to have triggered an episode of buying fever among French bikers and scooters (+ 20.2% Vs July 2018) which fell slightly in August (+ 0.8%). Site goes back in detail on this beautiful summer. Balance sheet.

Site Premium readers – who, as everyone knows, are much more fortunate than others – remember that at the end of June, a first heatwave hit France. Fortunately, these few days of very hot weather had not melted the figures of the French motorcycle market, on the contrary.

A month later, masses of air from Tenere Sahara and blocked over our helmets again overheated our country: "from July 21 to 26, the mercury often exceeded 40 ° in the northern half of the country and many absolute records have been broken", informs us Meteo France in its 2019 summer review…
However, the Journal moto du Net observes once again that motorized two-wheelers have not been penalized at all by these particularly trying conditions. The beautiful weather throughout the seventh month even allowed the new home market to jump by + 20.2% !
MNC must however stress that July 2019 benefited from two additional concession opening days (Tuesday-Saturday) compared to July 2018 (22 Vs 20), thus leading to a significant increase in activity of + 10%. July 14 in particular, fell on a Sunday this year, against a Saturday last year.

In August, despite the maintenance of good weather – for motorcycle or scooter drivers, not for farmers – the buying fever suddenly subsided: the motorcycle market was satisfied with a wise + 0.8% , against + 12.8% over the first eight months. FYI, August 2018 had one working day less than August 2018 (21 Vs 22).
By looking more at the numbers provided – sold! – by the French administration, Site notices that last August the 125 cc weighed down the balance sheet (-7.6%) while the large cubes sought to boost it (+ 6.1%). In July, the two sectors progressed in the same proportions…
