Antonio Perlot, new secretary general of ACEM
The European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM), which works with the authorities in Brussels to defend the interests of the motorcycle and scooter industry in Europe, announces the appointment of Antonio Perlot as new Secretary General.

14 manufacturers, 30 brands, 27 billion euros |
ACEM defends the interests of 14 manufacturers of motorized two-wheelers with headquarters in Europe with the European authorities in Brussels, i.e. a total of more than 30 brands of two, three or four-wheeled cyclos, motorcycles and scooters employing more than 125,000 people for a cumulative turnover (production, upstream and downstream activities) estimated at 27 billion euros. ACEM member manufacturers are BMW Motorrad, Ducati Motor Holding, Harley-Davidson Europe, Honda Europe Motorcycle, Kawasaki Motors Europe, KTM Sportmotorcycle, Peugeot Scooters, Piaggio, Renault, Suzuki International Europe, Triumph Motorcycles, Yamaha Motor Europe, Bombardier Recreational Products and Victory Motorcycles. |
Coming from a family of diplomats, born in Vienna (Austria) to an Italian father and a Swedish mother, Mr. Perlot will succeed from May 1, 2014 to the French Jacques Compagne, 61, who takes a well-deserved retirement but remains an advisor to of ACEM, after having served as general secretary for ten years.

A political science graduate from La Sapienza University in Rome and a master‘s degree in diplomatic studies, Antonio Perlot began his career in the NGO sector before becoming a consultant on European public affairs for industrialists. He notably worked for the Italian NGO InterSos during the war in Kosovo, then learned about the joys of lobbying by becoming a public affairs consultant for the Brussels-based company Epro..
Before joining ACEM in, he had worked for the Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Associations (FEMA), first as campaign director then as general secretary..
