We suspected it a little: Audi (Volkswagen group) did not buy Ducati on a whim and on the contrary intends to take advantage of it to open up new horizons (see in particular MNC of July 19, 2012). The German manufacturer has thus made it known that it is planning to build a two-wheeler, probably a scooter, in order to invest in the juicy urban mobility market..

A market on which has also just arrived the great rival of the VAG group: BMW and its very noticed maxi-scooters and  !

This hypothetical two-wheeler would therefore allow Volkswagen to advance a pawn on the motorcycle scene, just to gauge its reception and its possible success..

For Ducati, this option also opens up unexpected new horizons: producing a scooter is difficult for the manufacturer, who would permanently damage its brand image with Ducatisiti … both exciting and potentially fruitful !

Because Audi is categorical: this two-wheeler will not be "a Ducati wearing an Audi badge", assured Peter Schwarzenbauer, head of sales and marketing of Audi, at the inauguration of a concession of the brand to the four rings in London. The German notably explained to the automotive magazine that Ducati could play "an important role in future solutions" intended for urban users.
