James Ziemer to step down as Harley-Davidson president in 2009
Harley-Davidson has just announced the departure of its CEO James Ziemer in 2009, after 40 years with the American manufacturer (Harley-Davidson, Buell and recently MV Agusta). James Ziemer will retain his functions until the appointment of his successor.
Aged 57, James L. Ziemer, CEO of the Harley-Davidson Group – Harley-Davidson, Buell and more recently MV Agusta (read) – has just informed his board of directors that he will be leaving the company in 2009, after 40 years of career with the American manufacturer. However, he will remain in office until his replacement is appointed..

Born in 1951 in Milwaukee, the company’s headquarters in the United States, James Ziemer grew up in the neighborhood of the first Harley-Davidson factory. Appointed CFO in 1990, he became CEO (President and Chief Executive Officer) on April 30, 2005, while being a member of the board of directors of Textron, an American company specializing in defense aeronautics (Bell Helicopter, Cessna, etc.).
