A little over a month ago (read), Site announced the departure of Jean-Michel Cavret from the head of BMW Motorrad France to the direction of the "Electro-mobility Strategy", still at Behème, and that of Marcel Driessen from Piaggio France towards new clear horizons (!).
These simultaneous departures left no doubt about the destination of the ex-boss of the Piaggio group in France. Confirmed on the side of Piaggio France, this transfer should however be formalized by BMW Motorrad France: here it is !
"As part of the strategy of developing BMW Motorrad into new market segments, BMW Group France has decided to entrust Marcel Driessen with the management of Motorrad France", solemnly declares the Bavarian manufacturer.
Successively marketing and sales assistant in 1994 at Henkel, area manager at Ducati in Germany in 1998 and promoted to sales and marketing director of this subsidiary three years later, Marcel Driessen was recruited at the end of 2006 by Piaggio to take charge of the German subsidiary. in charge of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi sales, before joining the general management of the French subsidiary at the end of 2008 in charge of Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi sales.
The young 40-year-old boss, passionate about motorcycles and racing, can thus boast of knowing perfectly the segments of hypersports and scooters – in addition to that of roadsters, essential. After the launch of its sulphurous S1000RR, the German manufacturer could therefore invest even more in sport – with an S600RR, for example – but also and especially to relaunch in the scooter … Case to be continued: stay connected !
