Business - Triumph passes the milestone of 500,000 motorcycles! - Used TRIUMPH

Relaunched in 1990 by John Bloor at Hinckley, Triumph has just crossed the bar of half a million motorcycles produced! Symbol of the renewal of the brand, the Speed Triple – it is the 500,000th – will begin a journey. Video trailer…

Created in 1983 by the "self-made millionaire" John Bloor, the company Triumph Motorcycles Limited has brilliantly revived one of the most beautiful motorcycle brands in Great Britain! His son Nick has officially taken over the reins of the company, but John is watching…

Over a million ?

The data is impossible to find – even the English don’t know! -, but the Triumph brand (all "eras" combined) has undoubtedly produced more than a million motorcycles. The 500,000 motorcycles produced correspond to the production of Triumph since the takeover of the brand by Bloor.

"John Bloor bought the brand name and still owns 100% of Triumph, making Triumph the only motorcycle brand with no shareholders", rejoice the English, legitimately proud to reach half a million motorcycles produced (see box).

However, the advantages of such a structure are numerous, as Éric Pecoraro, Marketing Director of Triumph France demonstrates: "first of all, we are not subject to the diktat of profitability, of double-digit annual growth. We can strategize for the long term, and stick to them".

John Bloor’s Triumph !

"Then, in a period of crisis, as was the case recently, we are not forced to cut research and development budgets … On the contrary, we have even invested more !". And the impressive number of new products released in 2011 (and expected in the next few years) proves it..

The only limit that the French manager sees: "when liquidity runs out, but we have nothing to fear: our holding company is financially very solid !". After investing at a loss for almost 20 years (!), John Bloor and his brand have been making profits since 2005.

It was in 1990 that the first "new generation" Triumphs came out of the brand new factory built in Hinckley (Daytona, Trophy and Trident!). Since then, the company has grown considerably: 2,000 employees will celebrate the 21 years of the rebirth of the brand next autumn, which today has no less than five factories around the world..

Two are in England at Hinckley and three are based in Thailand. "But beware, these are not subcontractors: these three factories belong to us", insists our interlocutor !

50,000 motorcycles in 2010

An assembly line has also been set up in Thailand, for two specific purposes: "On the one hand, we had to relieve the English assembly line, and on the other hand, this allowed us to reduce transport times and costs for certain markets such as Australia and Japan, which nevertheless respectively represent 5,000 and around 2000 motorcycles".

In all, Triumph produced 50,000 motorcycles last year: "the record of 46,800 motorcycles set in 1968 is officially broken", also specifies to Site Éric Pecoraro. No wonder then that at this rate, Triumph" the next generation "celebrates its 500,000th motorcycle !

Of course, this extraordinary Triumph could only be a Speed Triple, "who will embark on a special journey kept secret by the English, which you can follow from May 24 on Twitter", warns Triumph France.

Just to make us (im) patient, the British shot a trailer, posted on their official Youtube channel. Warning: "engine" – three cylinders, of course -, "and action" !
