Voxan, from resistance to release

Is Didier Cazeaux the messiah for Voxan? The Voxan Club de France, the main driver of support for the brand since the start of its difficulties, went to check the progress of the convalescence.

The emotion and the concern are almost palpable, this January 25, when the representatives of the Voxan Club of France (VCF) enter the premises of the Voxan factory in Issoire. After ensuring the presence of the brand during public events (Moto-Legende, Twin Trophies, Moto-Salon, etc.), the VCF came to place in the hands of Didier Tirard, director of the factory, its role of guarantor brand image. Logical continuation of the resumption signed by Didier Cazeaux (read), this meeting symbolizes the successful metamorphosis of the VCF, which thus passes from the status of "support movement"to that of"brand club, with the full confidence and support of the factory".

A visit to the assembly workshop in the company of Christophe Roussilhes, Sales and Service Director, shows that little has changed since April 2000 except for this vanished anthill atmosphere. 70% of the parts being common to the three models, the assembly lines can indeed be shared. On the other hand, it is no longer 160 people who are active there but about fifteen, twelve additional hires being planned by the start of production in April. The judicial liquidation having canceled purely and simply the guarantees of what it is agreed to call "the Gardette era"How will the current owners of the brand be considered? Reassuring, the factory is" willing to make the maximum effort to grant the current owners, under the best conditions", the changes that will benefit those of the Cazeaux era. Thus, an upgrade kit is being validated. Detailed by Christophe Roussilhes, the list of technical changes is impressive:"change of the slack end of the timing chain, change of the cylinder head gaskets, revised water circuit in the cylinder head, optimization of the oil circuit, new engine oil quality, expansion tank on all models and probably increase in water flow, new more efficient computer, new valve lift laws (subject to change), new fuel hoses, new exhausts, better quality of bodywork, varnishing and screws and new brake discs". It should be noted that after-sales service began to deliver spare parts to dealers again in September 2002, in order to carry out various servicing and repairs..

For its part, the network of suppliers is being rebuilt. "A good part of those of the Gardette era have decided to trust the Cazeaux era, and the replacement of those who have chosen not to continue is already assured", says one at Voxan, which envisages"around forty dealers for France initially". In addition, the network will be supported by training sessions in Issoire. However, nothing is planned for export: in the immediate future, Voxan will be content to provide after-sales service for current owners abroad. As for the splendid VB1, it will indeed enter the range, but only after its industrialization has been redesigned in the premises of Issoire, and no longer at Boxer Design in Toulouse. Finally, Voxan confirms its presence at the next Mondial du deux- wheels, from September 25 to October 5, 2003 at the Porte de Versailles, and already promises "a big surprise"… But nothing else will filter, and as the R&D part of the workshops has remained stubbornly closed, everyone will take their trouble patiently … Maybe the new Roadster? Unless a new model. .. Anyway, passion is always at the rendezvous in Issoire, and we can only wish the French motorcycle that it finally manages to turn its desires into reality..
