Postponement of the German GP: the start of the MotoGP season is still postponed…
German Grand Prix organizer Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC) announces races originally scheduled for June 21 at the Sachsenring are postponed to "a later date" due to coronavirus. The start of the MotoGP season is therefore postponed for the umpteenth time… Explanations.
This postponement – alas predictable – follows the decision taken this week by the German government to ban "until August 31 all major events" which bring together a large audience on Germanic soil. The very popular German Grand Prix is obviously not exempt from this ban, which is also in force in Belgium..
- MotoGP World Championship :
"We are in discussions with MotoGP rights holder Dorna and with the responsible authorities to find a new date for the Motorcycle Grand Prix at Sachsenring at a later date", explains the organizer – ADAC – which is also the most important biker association in Germany and the main federation of automobile clubs.
"The health of the fans and everyone involved is always the top priority", develops the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club, which specifies that the tickets already purchased "remain valid for the new date" where the German GP will take place.
Start of the season in theory postponed at Assen
The MotoGP Grand Prix of Germany was initially to be contested from June 19 to 21 and until now mainly occupied the status of possible opening of the 2020 season, following the cancellations and postponements of the previous seven races (,,,,, and).
- MNC of April 9, 2020 : Dorna openly considering cancellation of the 2020 season
Its postponement postpones – for the moment… – this launch to the next race: the Dutch Grand Prix scheduled for June 26 to 28 in Assen. In view of the health evolution of the coronavirus, MNC doubts, however, that the Dutch sleeve will actually be maintained on this date. To be continued: stay connected … at home !
