1st: Maverick Viñales (official Yamaha n ° 12)
"We did a great job this weekend and we prepared very well for this race. Pecco (Bagnaia, editor’s note) was very fast, I was constantly on the attack and I tried to preserve the tires for the last ten laps. At the end I started attacking again and thought I was going to catch up with Pecco, but after making a mistake I concentrated on staying on my wheels and getting the most points. It’s fantastic! I’m very happy because my mentality is exactly the same as last weekend and the last races, but we just found a slightly better setting for the start of the race with 20 liters of gasoline. I made a mistake on turn 4 trying to widen the gap, but when we were down to three riders it was good. I want to thank everyone who supports me at home. They know that we had a difficult time in our team, but it is over. At the moment we have s luck and that’s what matters. I am very happy and I appreciate all the work of the team. We have to continue like this because we have a lot more potential ".
2nd: Joan Mir (official Suzuki n ° 36)
"It’s so nice to be on the podium again! I know I have to improve my results in qualifying, we are already trying to work on this, but I’m so happy that I was able to fight for the podium despite my 11th place on the grid. I tried to come back and stay focused, and it paid off. I’m so happy and really hope I can get another good result next weekend in Barcelona! "
3rd: Pol Espargaro (official KTM n ° 44)
“We knew we were taking a risk with the rear tire but I really wanted to enjoy the race. I also knew we would have to face a performance drop but it happened much sooner than expected. I was very fast at first – with a bike that I love – and I kept attacking staying close to Maverick for a while. In the end, I wanted to keep the others behind me and defend my position: that big effort paid off. With Fabio’s penalty, we were able to do it … that’s why I never give up ".
4th: Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha SRT n ° 20)
"I’m really happy with my race because it was important to finish third after all the struggling weekends. I got the long lap penalty, but I didn’t get the warnings on my dashboard so I was a little surprised. I know I have overstepped the track three times, but the last two I don’t know where. It’s disappointing and frustrating but I I am looking forward to Barcelona. I had a good pace and although it was difficult for us to overtake I fought until the end to get on the podium. Also the start was much better and I think that we’ve improved it a lot. We’ll see what we can do in Barcelona next weekend ".
5th: Miguel Oliveira (KTM Tech3 n ° 88)
"I’m happy with the race. We started from a long way and we managed to gain some places, in addition to enjoying some crashes. Our potential was there, we had a very good pace, I felt good with the bike. . I didn’t make any mistakes, I kept my focus the whole race, which was not easy. We manage to get into the top 5, which was our goal from the start, and we score important points for the championship. We are now leaving for Barcelona, we can clear our minds before having fun there too. I think we can have another good weekend! "
6th: Takaaki Nakagami (Honda LCR n ° 30)
"I’m quite happy to finish sixth again, especially as I started from 12th on the starting grid. The start of the race in particular was difficult, in the middle of a large group where I was struggling. to feel good with the front tire, because its performance is not optimal when following motorcycles. But I was quite strong in sector 3, I passed a few riders in sector 4 and my lap times were enough constant until the end. We get another sixth place so I’m happy and I want to say a big thank you to my mechanics because yesterday I fell twice and they had to prepare my bike overnight. I really appreciate it all their efforts, it was a great teamwork. A big thank you also to all my sponsors and to the team, who did a great job during these two weekends ".
7th: Alex Marquez (official Honda n ° 73)
“Last Sunday, and especially during the test, we managed to make some improvements. We took advantage of it this weekend and I felt very strong all three days. Throughout the weekend we made progress In the race, I started well and was aggressive early on, which I’m happy with. I was able to keep Dovi behind me during the race. With three laps to go, I had a big heat which allowed Nakagami to pass. Despite that I’m happy because I think we really had the pace for the Top 10. I want to thank the Repsol Honda team for their hard work, we are getting stronger and I can’t wait to be in Catalonia ".
8th: Andrea Dovizioso (official Ducati n ° 04)
"It was a complicated race. Unfortunately, when you start far behind you always risk losing time, especially in the first laps. After the start there was a bit of confusion: at turn 8, two drivers fell. ahead of me and had to brake, making way for two other opponents who passed me. After a few laps I finally found my rhythm, and tried to stay consistent. I felt better than the week last, but I didn’t have a great pace and being so far from the front lines, I couldn’t strategize. In the end, we scored a few points today, and we remain at the top of the table for now. . But we obviously cannot be satisfied with today’s result. ".
9th: Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha SRT n ° 21)
"I’m still trying to get over my stomach ache, I feel very bad. I thank my dietician who was able to give me the right foods to have enough energy for this race. During the weekend I improved, but I’ll go home and get checked out to see if I can improve my recovery. I hope to be 100% in Barcelona. Despite that, I think we had the chance to get on the podium this week -end but unfortunately another rider in the first lap got me out. I lost a lot of time and had a little problem with the bike, but I was able to make a good comeback. I’m happy because I didn’t expect to finish ninth so thank you also to the team for their incredible work with very little input from me this weekend. Now we want to arrive in Barcelona well prepared and ready to attack. ".
10th: Danilo Petrucci (official Ducati n ° 9)
"It was still a difficult race. From the start, I didn’t get the same feeling as in practice. I got off to a good start but I didn’t have confidence in my front tire and I couldn’t stop the bike. Too bad, because I felt like I could have a good race today. I am happy with the progress we have been able to make compared to previous races, but it is clear that we are still missing something. Fortunately, we will be back next week on the track in Barcelona, where we will try to redeem ourselves ".
11th: Johann Zarco (Ducati Avintia n ° 5)
"A new race is over, although the situation is difficult to manage. The choice of the rear tire was crucial, we chose an option (Johann was the only one to select a hard tire, Editor’s note) thinking that it would give us a certain advantage from the second half of the race, but that was not the case. The pace was very constant, but a little slow compared to the Top 10. Looking forward to going to Barcelona to continue our progress ".
12th: Alex Rins (official Suzuki n ° 42)
"It was a very difficult day for us, I had trouble stopping the bike, as well as maintaining the speed entering the turn. It was much more sensitive in the race than in practice or in qualifying. have a few days before taking the track again in Catalonia, so we will try to find the solution. I am motivated to find the origin of the problem, and at the idea of joining a new track, especially as I like it very much, I have had good results there in the past ".
Retirement: Valentino Rossi (official Yamaha n ° 46)
“It’s a shame that I made a mistake in the second lap. There was a bit of confusion at that point as all the drivers were close to each other and unfortunately I lost the front in the turn 4. We lose a few points. After my crash I continued to try to understand the rhythm, because we changed the setting of the bike a bit this weekend. It’s a shame, but that’s how it is. The good part is that we have another race next week in Barcelona. It’s a very good track, I like it a lot. The asphalt and the level of grip will be very different there. We hope that we will be competitive again. The championship is still long, so anything can happen ".
Retirement: Jack Miller (Ducati Pramac n ° 43)
"I’m very sad because I had a good start and we could have had a good race, all the conditions were there. Alas, we were very unlucky today because a tear-off entered the airbox . It was nobody’s fault (or very, very indirectly that of Fabio Quartararo whose screen stifled the Desmosedici of his Australian friend, Editor‘s note!). I am also sorry for the team who had worked very hard and good. We will come back even stronger in Barcelona ".
Retirement: Franco Bagnaia (Ducati Pramac n ° 63)
"It’s a shame, we were very fast, I had a good gap on Maverick (Vinales, Editor’s note) and I was not at the limit, I felt that everything was perfect on my bike. I managed the tires for the last laps because I know Maverick is very fast at the end of the race. I crashed in turn 6 and didn’t understand why. We looked at the data and saw that I had nothing hurt, the lines were the same and so was the bank. We think I hit something, we don’t know what it was, but it knocked me down. I was very sure of myself as I was driving I managed the race lap by lap and didn’t have to be aggressive with the tires. I can’t wait to be in Barcelona in a week because we want to bounce back. ".
Team managers
Massimo Meregalli (official Yamaha team)
"I’m really happy. I think this win is well deserved, both by Maverick and by the team. Maverick’s effort was fantastic. Yesterday he got pole and today he finished the job. He finished the job. had an aggressive start and kept a very high pace, pushing Bagnaia to make a mistake. It’s a boost of confidence for the next race. These 25 points are a testament to the hard work of the team on Saturday in FP3 and are very useful for the championship. Maverick has taken a big step forward in the standings and he is close to the top. Of course there are also mixed feelings. It is such a shame to see Valentino’s luck on the podium fade away so early, mostly because it was his home race and he felt very competitive. It’s a shame, but these are things that happen in the race. The good thing is that we have another week -end of the race ahead. The whole team is determined to continue the progress in Barcelona ".
Mike Leitner (official KTM team)
"We are overall very satisfied with the results because a podium was difficult to achieve here, especially with the competitiveness of the MotoGP category. We had a very good test on Tuesday and we found technical solutions for this Grand Prix, but we had tough practice sessions with a few crashes and a front tire that was at the limit. It was important to improve our position on the grid and it was great to get 4th and 6th. Pol had a great race with the soft tire and deserved this 3rd place. We’re sorry for Brad: he’s been great all weekend, but it was a rookie mistake and he will learn from it. Miguel and Iker also did very well, too bad that Iker could not confirm this 6th place but he showed his potential again. We will now go to Barcelona and concentrate on the next GP ".
Razlan Razali (Yamaha SRT team)
"These are not the kind of results we expected after a great race in Misano last time around. We are disappointed but there are positive points. It is clear that we are disappointed with the penalty given to Fabio, but c It’s like that. We have to accept this fourth position and we are still second in the championship. Franco has recovered well after the incident in the first round to finish ninth and advance to the championship. We’re happy with that, we just have to do better on the week. -end next and maintain consistency. There are still seven races to go, in which we can fight for the championship ".
