Market reports - First half of 2013: Peugeot's market report - Used PEUGEOT

Peugeot Scooters has just completed the first half of 2013 with a drop of -27.8% and has totaled 2,100 registrations. The brand’s France sales director, Olivier Cianelli, gives his impressions to Site and its readers. Balance sheet.

Site: To what do you attribute the drop in the motorcycle market in France in the first half of 2013 ?
Olivier Cianelli (Sales Director France Peugeot Scooters):
For the fifth year in a row, the market for "125 cc and over" scooters fell significantly. Registrations fell by -22.4% in the first six months and if the maxi-scooter family held up well, those of 125 two-wheelers and three-wheelers recorded spectacular declines. Regarding the tricycle segment, the reason is simple and reassuring as far as we are concerned. Many buyers have delayed their purchase to wait for the Peugeot Metropolis. In the majority of the market, on the other hand, that made up of 125 two-wheelers, the particularly poor weather conditions and the economic climate of our country did not encourage consumption. As for the 7-hour training, it remains a brake on impulse buying, but neither more nor less than in 2011 and 2012. It is therefore no longer an explanatory factor for the market decline..

MNC: For you, what is the highlight of this first half of the year? ?
O. C .:
Undoubtedly, this gloomy economic context marked the spirits. It has changed the situation for manufacturers, whose volumes have fallen, and for dealers, whose showrooms and workshops have experienced significant drops in attendance. Let’s be positive. This pushes us to question ourselves, to develop our commercial efficiency in the field, to build our service offers. As such, the Peugeot Scooters network is moving forward and is implementing very strong adaptation mechanisms..

MNC: Regarding your activity, what is your assessment of your first six months of 2013? ?
O. C .:
With a market share of 8.7% over the first half of the year for “125 cc and over” two-wheelers, we are in line with our objectives. We place two scooters, Satelis and Tweet in the "Top ten" for sales and Citystar continues to attract more and more customers. At the very end of the semester, we saw the arrival of a good number of range events, particularly in the "sport" world: Citystar RS, a new version of the Satelis RS and new Satelis Roland-Garros which will further boost these successful vehicles..

"We will finally be able to measure the success of Peugeot Metropolis"

MNC: In general, how does the second semester look? ?
O. C .:
We will finally be able to measure the success of Peugeot Metropolis. The exceptional level of orders recorded even before the first deliveries at the end of June (1,200 orders) augurs well for a successful start! Besides the volume effect recorded for ourselves and for our dealers, we expect to boost the tricycle market very significantly. Then at the end of the year, Citystar 125 "air" will allow us to place an offer on a very high volume price segment between € 2,500 and € 3,000. This will also be the time to prepare for the arrival of the new Satelis 400. Associated with the high-performance engine of the Metropolis, this Satelis will allow Peugeot Scooters to rebuild its legitimacy in the maxi-scooter segment..

MNC: What are your tools to face this difficult period ?
O. C .:
We continue to roll out Peugeot’s new brand image in the network. This will be seen in the signs of our concessions as well as in the quality of the interior stores. We are also fortunate to take advantage of our automobile network which will be at the service of our two-wheeled network to highlight all or part of the range. Finally, the offers and service contracts being finalized with us will allow us to provide more relevant answers to our customers during the life of their vehicle..
