It must be said that from a weather point of view, the last month was favorable to the practice – and to the purchase! – motorized two-wheelers: " Following on from March, this month of April turns out to be a rather dry month, even very dry in the eastern half, and mild throughout the country. Average rainfall over France shows a deficit of around 30%", summarizes Meteo France.
The + 8.7% increase recorded in April is more timid than that of, but in volume it still represents an increase of 1411 units compared to April 2013.
In total, 17,538 motorcycles were therefore registered in France. Among them, 5,167 were motorcycles and – above all – scooters with a displacement of less than 125 cc (124.9 cc commonly called "125"). In bad shape since the onset of the crisis and the introduction of the 7-hour training course, they have increased by + 13.1%.
The "engine" manufacturers in this sector are the two leaders Honda (+ 50%!) And Yamaha (+ 30.8%), and three French brands: Peugeot (+ 21.5%), MBK (49.5%) and, to a lesser extent given its volumes, Mash (+ 273% and 112 immates).
On the large-displacement side, the increase in sales in April 2014 stood at + 7.2% and the volume reached 12,371 motorcycles – especially – and maxi scooters. The market leader, Yamaha, shows the example with + 37.8%, but only Harley-Davidson (+ 11.8%) and Ducati (+ 23.5%) progress significantly.
April numbers two and three, Honda and Kawasaki, stabilize at +0.3 and 0.5% respectively, BMW delays at -1.8%, Triumph, KTM and Aprilia regress -5.6%, – 5.7% and -8.7% and Suzuki relapse of -12.3% … Site dissects and analyzes these results on the following pages !
