Cal Crutchlow took advantage of the press conference to reveal his retention in the private Honda-LCR team in 2017. Despite his difficulties to shine since his (three white results in …), the British driver even plans to extend its collaboration with LCR until 2018.
LCR does not opt for the "Crutch-xit" !
"I will be with LCR next year," announced No.35 – whose wife Lucy will give birth to their first child in a month. "Lucio (Cecchinello, team manager of LCR, Editor’s note) had a clause in the contract (to end his collaboration with Crutchlow, Editor’s note) that he did not exercise, and neither did I. So I will stay there for the year next and I will discuss a renewal of my contract with him for 2018 ".
The Honda satellite team should in all likelihood quickly formalize this renewal. Regarding his wish to extend in 2018, however, Crutchlow may have to wait: given the current results of his British rookie, Cecchinello will undoubtedly delay before extending him for an additional season..
"The start of the season did not go as planned, I would have to finish my third race in a row this weekend, that would be good", admits Crutchlow who is only 12th overall with three races finished in points : 11th at and at and 6th at .
"Barcelona obviously went much better, we saved a 6th place after a difficult weekend, and after that we had a positive test on Monday," he said, highlighting his in Catalonia.
Not sure, however, that these performances will be enough to ensure the confidence of the Italian team for the next two seasons: a few forays into the Top 5 – which his bike and his level allow him – before the end of the season would probably be welcome for achieve it !
