The Italian agency ARPA (Agenzia Regionale Prevenzione e Ambiente della Regione Emilia-Romagna), charged by Dorna – the promoter of the Moto GP – to assess the risks by measuring "the levels of radiation from all possible sources including the air , environment and food ", estimates in its that" the doses are rather coherent with an average of 0.144µSv / h, a minimum of 0.110µSv / h and a maximum of 0.197µSv / h ".
"With the exception of a sample of cow meat from the Miyagi region, none of the food and drink samples show concentrations of Cesium 137 and Cesium 134 above the measurable threshold (around ten Bq / kg -L) ", continues ARPA.
"The risk of radiation during the event is negligible"
"As expected, the analysis of the measurements shows the presence of radioactive contamination on the Motegi circuit due to the Fukushima accident", concludes the ARPA, but "based on the estimated dose, we can say without no doubt that the risk of radiation during the event is negligible ".
FIM and Dorna Sports SL are therefore expected to announce this week, when the detailed official report is released, that "if no other serious incident occurs by then, the Japanese Grand Prix will take place as scheduled on October 2".
