Motorcycle license - 6 KTM motorcycles for A2 license holders - KTM second hand

On January 19, 2013, the new A2 motorcycle license will only give access to certain models. Here is the list of new KTM corresponding to the A2 motorcycle category: no more than 35 kW and a power / weight ratio of less than 0.2 kW / kg.

January 19, 2013 marks a turning point in the history of the motorcycle license: as part of European harmonization, the A license undergoes changes that Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than others – already know by heart (read).

The creation of an intermediate category called A2 (between the A1 125 cc license and the A license) is the main novelty. It is "motorcycles with or without sidecar of a power not exceeding 35 kilowatts and whose power / weight ratio does not exceed 0.2 kilowatt per kilogram. Power cannot result from restraining a vehicle developing more than twice its power".

At KTM, six new models meet the standards of this new A2 category that young bikers will have to attend for two years, before passing if they wish the training of the "real" license A. Site lists it for you.

690 Duke

  • Engine : 690 cc single cylinder

  • Power : electronic clamping at 32 kW or 44hp (68hp original)

  • Full weight : 160 kg

  • Rate : 7 690 €

What the builder says :
"At the origin of the Duke, KTM revived the pure and authentic single cylinder. The 690 Duke, as we see it today, has gained a lot: the taste for long stages, the absence of vibration, the pleasure of being accompanied. But what she never lost is intensity and raw power. The secret: a dual-ignition cylinder head and individual maps for each spark plug make this the most powerful engine ever created for a Duke".

  • TPF weight : 160 kg

Thanks to him, KTM riders achieved impressive performances in the 2012 edition of the European Junior Cup (EJC), organized as part of the World Superbike Championship. But the new 690 Duke R is not just a clone of the EJC racing bike. This formidable rocket for pros and amateurs benefits from the same suspensions, but the chassis of the 690 Duke R is taller, with stiffer springs and better damping than the 690 Duke. And above all, the 690 Duke R is fully adjustable and adapts to all environments: from relaxed walks on small paths to the frantic pace of track racing".

Very handy, it perfectly symbolizes the agility at the base of its design. Clearly, no other motorcycle offers so much fun so cheaply as the 390 Duke! With 44 hp and 375 cc, it represents the category above its cousin the 200 cc, while the chassis has been redesigned to withstand this extra power. Even so, the new 390 Duke weighs less than 150 kg when fully loaded, which makes it more dynamic than more powerful motorcycles and makes it a sporty alternative to the very expensive maxi scooters.".

The cost of clamping / unclamping

Site asked KTM France to estimate the possible cost of clamping and unlocking.

"The price of labor is different for each distributor, so this prevents us from giving a price for the entire network. We can only estimate the cost of the clamping: between 50 and 100 € TTC".
