As part of the Loppsi2 bill, the Senate has just voted an amendment significantly reducing the time limits for recovering the points lost on his driver’s license.

Where the driver has committed an offense resulting in the withdrawal of a single point, its return would take place within six months – instead of one year at present – on the express condition that no other offense has been committed during this delay.

One step forward…

All of the twelve points would be returned within one year – instead of three currently -, again if the driver kept tight during this period: a welcome lowering given the number of automatic money pumps automatic radars and galore traps speed controls for our safety deployed along the roads…

Signed by some sixty senators, this amendment aims to respond "to the concern of thousands of our fellow citizens severely punished for minor offenses. The reduction in time limits will help reduce the exchange of points between members of the same family and driving without permit ", explains its initiator, the UMP senator of Vienne (86) Alain Fouche.

Like any initiative aimed at slightly humanizing – if not loosening it – the security vice in which French drivers are bathed, this amendment has of course drawn the wrath of the government, the law committee and the inenarable League against road violence …

Two steps back !

"I am against this amendment (…) because I think that the reinstatement of the white license, with an increase in the thresholds, is a better solution, in particular for driving without a license", thus indicated the UMP rapporteur of the committee in the Senate, the senator of Saône-et-Loire (71) Jean-Patrick Courtois.

Removed in 2004 (read in particular and our), the white license indeed allowed road professionals who had lost all their points to take the wheel under conditions: a procedure deemed too "long" by Senator Alain Fouche. To be continued … Stay connected !
