New Honda 2018: back in Monkey business
50 years later, Honda is preparing to (re) create the event: the cute Monkey is back! The 2018 version of the MSX125 mini-motorcycle will land in France in July in three colors but at a price still unknown… Presentation.
The arrival of the 21st century Monkey is taking shape! The Japanese indeed announce that their "neo retro" version of – the modern Dax – will be available in French Honda dealerships this summer in three colors: yellow, red or black … depending on the color of its truck ?!
Specially and historically appreciated by motorhomes for its compact dimensions and its equally moderate sobriety (see the key points below), the Monkey also targets a category of endangered motorized two-wheeler users: the "d ‘young people’ !

To seduce these Goldwing, Africa Twin or Fireblade riders "in power", Honda has specially treated the look of its new mini-motorcycle: classic lines, double shock absorber, padded saddle, round tank, high-end badge as on the GL1800, CBRF1000L or CBR1000RR, precisely…
The mudguards, handlebars and mirrors are chrome, of course, as is the protection of the pot which is placed high on the bike, like the scramblers which were all the rage among 70’s bikers … and are a hit with today’s hipsters !
Of course, the lights are LED and the instrumentation digital … But both are very round! We just regret that the Japanese engineers did not better camouflage the injection of the small single cylinder that comes out in this configuration 9.2 hp and 11 Nm.
On the handling side, the small 12-inch wheels of the MSX are kept, as well as the 220 mm disc brake up front and the 190 mm disc brake in the rear. Big news on the other hand: the ABS is managed by an inertial unit IMU. What to do the "monkey" in the parking lot of the beach, without – too much – risking yourself to hurt yourself ?
Last strong point of the Monkey: its weight limited to 107 kg fully loaded, less than the big Gege of location 46, even before the aperitif. It remains to know its price, which risks determining its success: more or less than the MSX 125 currently displayed at 3,599 euros on the official Honda France site?
