Honda Riding Assist-e, Monkey and Super Cub unveil in Tokyo

Continuation and end of the 2018 Honda novelties presented at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show: the winged crest lifts the veil as planned on its self-balancing electric motorcycle project alongside its concept of Monkey 125 and its redesigned Super Cubs.

Riding Assist-e

The spectacular Riding Assist-e prototype is a motorcycle with futuristic lines, which has the double peculiarity of being electric and self-balancing. As announced by MNC, this project uses the "Riding Assist" technology discovered at CES in Las Vegas.

This prototype would mark, according to its designers, a step towards "the realization of Honda’s vision of enjoying by 2030" the "freedom of mobility" and a "carbon-free society". Concept Monkey 2018: Honda remakes the monkey !

The Honda Monkey is one of the most famous motorized two-wheelers in the world, including for non-bikers. Because if this mini-motorcycle launched in 1967 has met with phenomenal success with young people and urban users, its rikiki dimensions have also given it access to the back of many motorhomes or on the decks of yachts. !

The technical basis is that of its successor, from whom the "monkey" steals the 125 cc single cylinder placed horizontally. Brought up to date, this Monkey 2018 receives monochrome digital instrumentation, an inverted fork and LED lighting. Hopefully the price is more reasonable than the MSX (3599 €)…

 

For now listed as a "concept", the very cute Monkey 125 should lead to a production version in the very near future. Remember that Honda got into the habit of "pre-presenting" its new products a year before their launch under the "concept" label, as with the or .

Honda Super Cub

The Honda stand also celebrates its bestseller Super Cub, a utility motorcycle launched in 1958 which has just passed the impressive 100 million units produced in all versions (from 49 to 125 cc). It is quite simply the most produced motor vehicle in the world, two and four-wheelers combined. !

This phenomenal success, particularly pronounced in Asia, is based on the practical aspects and the robustness of this small two-wheeler with unflattering lines. The entire 2018 range receives an LED headlight, while the "Cub" 125 features a keyless start and an electric trunk opening. The "Pro" versions keep their basket at the front.

A new "Cross Cub 110" (above) also makes its appearance, recognizable by its widened tires and headlight guards which give it an adventurous air. The best for sneaking into the urban jungle ?!
