News - A new KTM Duke 800 twin for 2016? - Used KTM

KTM has developed a whole range of small and medium-displacement roadsters thanks to the Duke assembled at its Indian partner Bajaj, but there remains a void between the exclusive Duke 690 and the beastly 1290 Duke. KTM on the land of MT-09, Z800 and Street Triple

In the Duke range, KTM makes full use of platform sharing to cover a fairly large area ranging from. Then comes the archetypal fun bike seen by KTM: a punchy single cylinder (70 hp in R version!) Inserted in a sharp cycle part.

A real toy, the 690 nevertheless suffers from a "mechanically" limited versatility and a salty price (€ 7850), two points too penalizing to compete with bestsellers in the roadster category such as the, the, the or the .

And if we want to go above, it is directly the 1290 Super Duke R and its v-twin of 180 hp and 144 Nm of torque (!) That KTM offers: hello the walk between the two (read our and our) !

Logically, the Austrian manufacturer is therefore developing an intermediate model with a capacity of around 800 cc, "surprised" on several occasions during dynamic tests. Covered with the traditional black and white camouflage paint (adopted by the manufacturers to blur the perception of lines on stolen photos), this Duke 800 (?) Presents a style close to the brand’s roadsters.

Unsurprisingly, there are homemade "WP" suspensions, the usual reinforced steel trellis frame and a very elegant boxed swing arm specific to the entire Duke range. The presence of Brembo radial calipers, an ABS and an anti-skid (the two being undoubtedly disconnectable) confirm the sporting claims and the rather high-end status of this new bike..

Where this "average" Duke surprises, it is at the level of its engine and more precisely of its architecture, since it is about a twin cylinder not in "V" as is the custom with Katoche, but " online "as on the, the or the !

This vertical twin, new in the Orange range, "breathes" through a silencer placed on the right side, as on the Super Duke R.

KTM will undoubtedly unveil a little in the coming weeks to fuel the buzz until the Milan show at the end of November, where we will probably be able to discover this novelty in 2016. In other words: stay connected on MNC !
