The American subsidiary of Honda has just unveiled two new motorcycles built on the technical basis of the NC700: the CTX700N, a custom with original lines, and its "touring" version, the CTX700. The importation of these novelties in Europe is however not certain… Practical and inexpensive custom !

Practical and inexpensive custom !

The arrival of this Honda CTX700N and its more dressed version (fork crown and windshield) is not really a surprise … for Site readers – who as everyone knows are a little more fortunate than the others: the expansion of the NC700 range was announced last fall by the big boss of Honda and the sketches presented during his speech suggested that this operation would be done by means of a typical custom motorcycle (read again).

Unveiled at the Chicago Motorcycle Show, the CTX700s are closely modeled on the NC700 triplets: they are powered by the same 669.6cc long stroke inline twin (73mm bore * 80mm stroke), which takes place within a basic double cradle frame in steel tubes (read our).

The geometry of the chassis has, however, been revised to lower the center of gravity and, at the same time, the saddle height which would peak at 720 mm (against 790 mm on the). The already generous wheelbase on the NC700 (1525 mm on the NC700S) lengthens slightly to 1530 mm. Both models can optionally be fitted with ABS and DCT dual-clutch transmission.

To contain costs, Honda did not content itself with taking back the base engine and chassis of, and: the new small Honda customs are equipped with the same 320 mm petal discs (the rear element is cut inside the front!), the same two-piston calipers and the same suspensions (41 mm non-adjustable telescopic fork and preload-adjustable mono-shock absorber).

In detail, we also note that the austere on-board console and front optics are identical to those of the NC700. As for the very practical principle of "tank-tank" (the real gasoline tank is installed under the saddle), it is also renewed. The weight is not communicated, but a large catalog of options is already available on the .

And Europe, then ?

Questioned by Site, Honda France specifies that the importation of these two new motorcycles remains to be confirmed: "the launch of the CTX700 is the result of an approach by Honda USA – in agreement with Japan – for its own market. ‘Europe, the importation of these motorcycles is under study ", told us Bruno Skotnicki of the communication department of Honda France..

Honda USA announces prices ranging from $ 6,999 (around € 5,230) for the CTX700N ($ 7,999 with ABS and DCT) to $ 7,799 (around € 5,830) for the CTX700 ($ 8,799 with ABS and DCT). To follow closely on MNC: stay connected !
