Triumph will not have taken long to develop its – predictable – XC version with a more adventurous vocation. Expected for the beginning of spring 2013, this Tiger Explorer XC (for "Cross Country") wants to be better equipped and cut for a (d) venture !

"Explore" the end of the world !

Six months after the launch of its "maxi-trail-GT", Triumph is doubling down with a variation designed to go to the end of the world (and back!), The Tiger Explorer XC. As on the, the "Cross Country" version differs from the standard model by a more complete endowment of equipment (aluminum engine guard, hand guards, crankcases, 55 W fog lights), while the rims with poles ( 19 inches at the front, 17 at the rear) are replaced by tubeless spoked elements.

On the other hand, unlike its great rival, the BMW R1200GS Adventure (read in particular our and our), the XC does not take up any volume: its seat height, for example, is similar to that of the "standard" Explorer (adjustable 840 to 860 mm), while its stocky tank retains a capacity of 20 liters.

The tubular steel trellis-type chassis and 1215 cc engine are also identical. Suffice to say that despite the probable overweight due to the accessories (259 kg on the), the three-cylinder in-line and its 137 hp (121 Nm of torque) will have no difficulty in taking this "XC" version. !

All with strength and velvety, but also smooth since the Explorer XC retains its acatene transmission by shaft and cardan shafts whose softness and transparency set the benchmark of the genre. The electronic aids (disengageable ABS, adjustable and disconnectable anti-skidding and regulator) are naturally carried over to their (excellent) functions, which can be very useful in cases of excess optimism !

Only offered in "Khaki Green", the Triumph Explorer XC will join them from "March 2013", explains Eric Pecoraro, Marketing Director of Triumph France. The price remains to be confirmed but should not exceed € 15,500 (€ 14,890 for the "standard" Explorer) according to our estimates..
